The scrum. You know you love it.

This thread is inspired by a Derpus query on the referee thread - starting with my response. I'm expecting that the guys who actually know dig in quickly to correct my lack of experience. Here is one thing though. Every Reds or Wallaby scrum on the screen is supported by my grunts as I get my...

    Michael Hooper: "What a ride!"

Every now and then a particular player deserves a particular recognition. [I think that the mods will let this thread through.] Farewell Michael Hooper. What a servant to the game. x 125 caps x 69 of these as captain ABC on Hooper Roar on Hooper espn on Hooper Planet Rugby on Hooper

    Argentina v Australia Sun, 7/8/2022, 5:10 am

Wallabies kick off their Rugby Championship with the first of a two test tour in Argentina with Cheka coaching the Pumas. Early start but not so early that most won't get up for it.

    TT R5 Hurricanes v Reds Friday 5:05PM

Some outline stats here https://www.rugby.com.au/match-centre/358/2021/358054?tab=Season-Stats Reds unlikely to be willing to exit limply, but can they step up to a game in NZ against the Hurricanes?

Super Rugby R4 Reds v Blues

Reds return to Lang Park for 7:45pm kick off on Friday 4th June. Blues top the table, Reds have a 6 day turn around but are back home in Brisbane. Brad was disappointed with the bench and the opening that gave to an unlikely Chiefs come back. But we have our first Australian win in the TT...

R3 Reds v Chiefs, turmoil in Townsville?

Saturday 7:45 pm. Form LL v WW: Chiefs 40 - 19 v Brumbies at home Force 19 - 20 Chiefs away, tight one with Force having most of the possession. Are the refs appointed yet? Perhaps the Aussie teams are getting closer to clicking with the Kiwi refs. Brad wants to play the Kiwis - let's see if...

Super Rugby Au Final - Brumbies v Reds

It's time to open the conversation. SRau has been superb and we are down to this. Always felt that whoever wins should have to defeat, in a knock out, the team that is palpably penultimate. Think we got there. Brumbies serious favourites, but who knows. We live in interesting times. [Go Red]

Super Rugby Au Round 8 - Force vs Reds @ Cbus Stadium, 7:05pm Friday 21st August

Gold Coast is not likely to feel like a home game for the Force who face a Reds team who were running hard in Round 7. Reds need to front up not relax, after that effort, but the task seems daunting for the Force who must surely pull a win soon. Bring it on.

Super Rugby Au Round 7 - Reds v Rebels @ Suncorp Stadium, 7:15pm Sat 15 Aug

Rebels on fire after defeating the Brumbies. Reds on the rebound following a less than satisfactory game against the Waratahs. Fight for positionsin the finals, likely these two teams would be targeting second and third but last week was a real leveler. Time to turn it up Reds!

    Crusaders v Reds Super Rugby R6 2020 Friday 4:05PM (Q)

Shit kick off time. Knock off early or plug the PC in at work. Head says Crew by heaps. Heart says wtf, time to kick butt boys.

Super Rugby Rnd 3: Jaguares v Reds - Buenos Aires Sunday Feb 16 10:00am AEDT

Surely time to kick this off, 9:00am in Q. Jaguares start 2020 season as highly favoured and will want to bounce back at home after a tight loss to Hurricanes at home last week. Both squads are reasonably stable which not many franchises can boast. Reds away record has been pretty poor which...

    Laws and Interpretations

We have a refereeing thread, but nothing I could find for discussion about the laws (and their interpretations). Complaints about refs can go elsewhere. This thread is for the G&GR brains trust to clarify what the laws are and how they are meant to be interpreted.

    SA Rugby watch 2018

Must be time to start this. No need for a great deal of rules or guidance on the thread. If it's South Africa and it's rugby, or it effects rugby in South Africa, then it's on topic.

    Wallaroos

No obvious thread for this so I'll start one. I think it's important. Wallaroos (rank 6) play England (rank no 2) today in Wellington. Kick off is in 20 minutes. The Roar article below gives this FaceBook live stream link: https://www.facebook.com/worldrugby/ Background in these two...

Sydney clubs - funding and relationships

OK, My experience shows a lot of angst and emotion on this set of topics. Maybe this will be seen as me starting a fight, leading with my chin. It's not what I think I'm trying to do though. Possible discussions: x ARU funding x NSWRU funding x Independent funding x Funding for Shute Shield...
