Agree completely but having credibility and form from Colts seems to count for little with Kelly. Jesse has the physicality that Hanigan does not. If not starting he should have been brought off the bench. He was not even on the bench ! Likewise with Baldwin, in the last two games, TC had...

2 key call outs from me with 1s. Forwards -Because of the size difference in forwards, we had to commit more players at every breakdown. Physically we just do not have enough big players who are ball carriers and cannot mix it with teams like that. Backs - putting a player straight from league...

Nicolson was the goalkicker in 2s with the highest points tally. He was also the goal kicker in 1s colts last year and their highest points scorer, so no problem for a kicker when he plays.

Like your blend of second and back row. On current form TC should get the nod at 7 but MB brings an added physicality both as a ball carrier and in general defence...so a very tough call. There are going to be s lot of 'nice' problems for selectors in the coming months - jock will be back...

Agree they need Some weight and oomph in the back 5. l disagree with their choice of Hanigan who needs a year in colts. Blessed with 7s, l think they're going to have to be careful with Baldwin. He won't hang around to play 2s, and I sense his frustration .

Re your earlier question, Oli is still eligible for Colts. Despite performance Last year in 1s colts and preseason with 1xv was not put forward by randwick for U20's. Several Schoolboys unproven in colts did. Who says nepotism is dead !

Horwitz went straight from school footy to grade without a trial or a sniff of colts rugby last year!

Nicholson played all preseason including win at Eastwood and trial against Gen Blue in 1XV. He certainly has the skills. Against Gordon his game control was good with KRP and options suitable to the conditions. His kicking game and field position control allowed the team to play in the right...

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

Totally agree Dyson. The majority of the Australian U20's will have been in the Australian Schoolboys, certainly if NSW selections are anything to go by. There are better Colts out there who never get an opportunity. I think you blokes have even greater challenges to face than us in NSW, who...

He He is. I spoke with his Dad at the weekend who was watching us trial at Eastwood . Re "Oli", someone needs to ask Nick Ryan not Wade Kelly. He will tell you that this fella is quality that has been overlooked.

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

Thank you for the response. Absolutely not pointing a finger at the Tahs. Definitely internal. What sort of an incentive is it for a player to do well in Colts and now in first grade to be put behind someone straight from school. Deegan is a good player but he would get his chance next year or...

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

I trained with Oli in the Randwick elite squad all summer, so I'm sure if he'd been asked, he would have attended the U20's training. I find it odd that a player who wins the Colt of the year and is in the team of the year can be overlooked and not given an opportunity the way some others have...

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

Oli Nicolson is missing from the Sydney Juniors list. He played at 12 in the championship winning team that year. I hear he has been going great guns at Randwick in the 1XV No 10 during trials, and i watched him out play David Horwitz in the recent Gen Blue vs Randwick fixture. Not sure why he's...

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

England 27 Aus Schoolboys A 0 England made 10 changes to the team to play the A's. Based on how the first choice players physically decimated the U19s last Sunday, forecast for the game on Sunday - England by 30+

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

Australia U19s 8 - England U18s 19 Sheer lack of numbers in Australia means it will be very difficult to compete with England and SA junior programmes if something is not changed; I can only see the gap getting wider as England become more professional. This is something they have only been...

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

Australia U19s 8 - England U18s 19 England completely outplayed and outmuscled their older counterparts. England's selection process, like the Kiwis, of picking from Colts/grade teams on form instead of boys who were good when they were 15 was clear to see. Several of the Australian players...
