From what I hear, some of the QLD 2 boys, particularly in the front row, vastly out scrums those from QLD 1. The forwards in QLD 2 have been very good at playing tight football, just lack of useful possession is undercutting their efforts. the QLD 1 forwards seem to be much better ball runners...

The one metre rule is pretty horrible. I've seen some completely dominant scrums, particularly in colts, be completely nullified. Many previous age group reps also seem to have a problem at club level when scrumaging outside of schoolboys and colts as their technique doesn't seem up to it.

The only thing I can think of is that on their team sheet abother player has been named at 13, when Perese was wearing that number on the day. The Referee would have written his report as per the number worn not by name.

Strange because both of the Norths red cards from last week have been given a 1 week interim suspension despite Perese being involved in the second fight when he already had been given his marching orders.

Norths won both of their colts games this weekend. Colts 1 - 44-10 Prem Colts - 18-14 Thats the first time in a few years that Norths have won both their Colts games in one day so everyone was pretty happy with the results.

Rugby is the national sport and the majority of the best players seem to come from the 'country' areas. A lot of farm boys. A lot of the players also go to University so the University provinces can get quite a few players. Auckland (Auckland University) Manawatu (Massey University), Wellington...

Wow. Souths might be in a bit of trouble this year. I was very happy with Norths on the weekend. Two full squads and close results. Plenty to work on but there's plenty more time in the season to improve, with most of the boys being first years.
