Scots Basketball even try to poach players from other GPS schools. Very poor form.

I'd like to congratulate the boys of the Newington First XV on their victory today. It shows the tremendous spirit and cameraderie which exists in this special group of boys. To defeat a champion team like Scots on their home ground is an amazing performance.

Let's do that for Riverview, Joeys, Kings, Scots and Riverview. Might open a few eyes to the real "importers".

I'd like to know who the two other Headmasters are? Surely they'd have to stop their own scholarship programs first. As for Grammar, they are just reaping what they sowed over many years with their unhealthy obsession with academics at all costs, to the exclusion of sporting excellence. Other...

What is this "massive influx"? Who are the "many"? Do you guys think that if you say it often enough it will make it come true. All I ever see here are a whole lot of rumours and third hand accounts of countless nameless boys who are supposedly on rugby scholarships or were offered rugby...

You gotta be joking. Boys who were booked in at New when they were 11 and spend all six years of high school at New are now "imports". I guess New's success can now be put down to the masterful talent spotting abilities of the rugby staff - they can pick a Champion at age 11, give them a...

The 15C's. It was beyond disgraceful. Kings players subjected a New player to some very heavy racial vilification. Same thing happened in the trials earlier this year. It may well turn into a very major public issue if Kings don't properly deal with the offenders.

Well said. Good to see someone other than Blindside basing comments on facts.

Blindside is right about this. Everyone has stories about this kid or that kid who who were offered scholarships by New. Time to put up or shut up and name the names. Now let's talk about Riverview and the 200 boys on Old Boys "bursaries" - can anyone confirm the boys in View 1sts who are on...

That's not correct. New would normally expect to in between 8 and 10 games games against Kings, who are always a challenge due to their depth. I'd expect the same happened yesterday. I do know the New 14D's smoked Kings by about 80 points.

Newington had good wins against Shore in both 1sts and 2nds. The 2nds won by (approx) 28-10 with Newington coming back from 5-0 down early. New were strong right across the park and dominated all facets of play. The New 1sts won by 17-13 but it was 3 tries to 1 and New never looked like losing...

Sandell wouldn't be out of place in the 1s. Carolan could play hooker as well but I like Vea - he is a warrior. If the selections were being made later in the season, when the bigger forwards are match fit, then Ahosivi comes into the frame as he has played NSW Under 16s

GPS selectors seem to go for tough forwards as captains - Wells and Walters in 2011. I'd go with Rorke for the 1s.

Here is my take on the GPS teams. The depth in the three quarters and back row is quite amazing this year and I've no doubt guys will be picked in the 2nds and 3rds who are probably good enough for the 1sts. There are only 15 spots in the 1sts, however, so here goes: GPS Firsts 1: Piggy...

Fifita from New ends should also be in the frame. He's a monster.

Lee, OPL has only been playing front row for about 8 weeks. When he was in Year 10 he played blindside flanker in New's 2010 Championship team. He missed most of 2011 with injury. He could still play blindside - he's fit and mobile enough - but New think he is best for them in the front row due...
