    Waratahs 2011

Passionate as I may be, articles like this: http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/union-news/emerging-from-the-darkness-20110311-1br67.html and the quake in Christchurch start making me thing we get pretty fired up about insignificant things. The fact this bloke was comfortable talking about...

    Waratahs 2011

I agree the Tahs would have done well to keep Palmer. However I think the hardest thing for NSW is to hold onto depth. They build a lot of it, but in the end other franchises notice it and a starting spot, or even bench spot at another franchise is their ticket to the top. Palmer is the...

Crusaders & the situation in Christchurch.

The Crusaders are made up of Canterbury, South Canterbury, Mid-Canterbury, Tasman, West Coast, Buller and Marlborough. Canterbury (Christchurch) and Tasman (Nelson) are the only to Tier 1 NPC provinces. Tasman's ground holds about 20,000 and is a RWC venue too.

    Western Force 2011

Probably best to post in this thread since people who saw the game are here... does anyone know how Tilse/Fitzpatrick/O'Connor/McKibbin/Halangahu went? Especially interested in McKibbin as I reckon he has a massive shot at the reserve 9 spot for NSW...

    Melbourne Rebels 2011

Anyone know what's going on with the vibe in Melbourne? Trying to keep track of score via Twitter and Facebook; crowd went up as 13,013 and someone had a crack at it saying it is about 100; another said the VRU has no idea and one 'fan' posted "Are the VRU actually trying to reduce support?"...

    Tahs v Fiji Warriors

I think your take on the atmosphere must have been spot on. If this bloke's on board, it just might be a big season! Wonder how membership sales will go after this article and a good first quarter/half performance by the 'A' team. I saw Jason Allen, Zemancheff, Sally Loane and Peter Medway in...

    Tahs v Fiji Warriors

Some quick ones from me... * starting XV v.good, and Turner's pace is a definite asset at 13 (although Horne ain't slow!). Pakalani, unknown to most non-NPC watchers, was solid; good finisher, broke tackles and don't think he missed one. Good contender for No.22 jersey. * TPN and Palu were...

    Reds 2011

This a hard one for coaches, I reckon. You want to squeeze your best players into the starting XV wherever possible (see Horwill playing at 6 in the opening game last year so Byrnes and Van could also start). However how often do we say that it is the quality sides who have depth in the bench...

    Waratahs 2011

Agree Lee. Iain Payten wrote in an article this week that McCutcheon was really aggressive in the midweek matches on the Spring Tour and although I didn't see it, aggression usually translates to a good level of physicality. That said, he is smaller than Dennis and Mowen who along with Mumm are...

    Waratahs 2011

I guess this comes down to the whole 'entertaining' buzz word which we determine rugby by these days. Is it all about the football, though? Or do we expect more entertainment from everything inside the turnstiles, from the ground announcer to the on-ground MC, run-on music, refereeing...

Score progression [I'm not there...taken from Rebels Facebook] Fiji 3-0 Rebels 7-3 (Mitchell try Cipriani conversion) Rebels 14-6 (no record of scorers) Rebels 21-6 (Mortlock try, Cipriani conversion) Rebels 21-13 Rebels 28-13 (Cipriani try + convert) Rebels 35-13 (Cooper Vuna try...

    Waratahs 2011

Interesting... Shepherd has played 67 Super games since debuting in 2004. That's out of 89 matches or 75%. Horne is 30 out of 39 since his debut which is 77%... pretty close! I guess in Super Rugby Horne has missed his nine in probably three blocks of three games (roughly), whereas Shepherd has...

    Bonus Points Review?

I don't like the idea purely due to the fact that a dud team should not end up on eight points when they have earned zero.

Given the Tahs are only playing two trials, can we expect to see the big guns in the Fiji match? If so, ten bucks is a pretty good deal...

    Waratahs 2011

Agreed Lee, but at least he's putting it out there, right? If they don't improve their attack, then he can certainly be brought to task for not achieving what they set out to do. From memory, last year (at this time of year) was all about getting a settled squad given the departures of Lyons...
