    U16 schoolboy rugby

The country teams by and large got smashed at the state comp That being said many of the best of them have already found their way into the big Sydney schools which continues to tip the balance towards the Sydney teams.

Well they do, they play for Australia U18s, This ensures the top 18 YO can play even if they are at Uni or have left school, aligning with the rest of the world. Australian Schools remains as a slightly anachronistic but welcome alternative pathway.

Knox were poor. I thought they might be building to something after a solid performance against shore and easy win last week, but their backs were outclassed against a good Oakhill side. The forwards look solid but unless they can find some cohesion in the backline it will be a disappointing...

Looks like just 20 min each way on the ISA and CHS games. So maybe. And they pick a big squad. ISA v CAS will be a cracker.

Views on the round; Waverley over Stannies 14+ Barker over Gregs 20+ Knox over Pats 14+ (25+ if Woods doesn’t play) Augs over Brook 14+ Kinross over Aloys 7+ Oakhill over Trinity 10+

Do you, possibly, go to Waverley?

Watching the Shore / Knox game I think the Shore Achilles heel is their forward pack. The backs look very slick, even in the wet, and I think will be a scary proposition on a dry, fast track. Their 10 and 15 are exceptional. But the forwards struggled to break the gain line and in defence gave...

Not sure about that. Friends with kids there are happy, it does well academically and at most other sports and the kids seem to love it. Just sad that rugby is dying. Agree too many choices. If that’s true about E sports being an option that’s ridiculous.

They would win the ping pong and chess though.

Worrying signs for rugby enrollment at Knox. Five 16s teams, four 15s, three 14s and only two 13s. Compare that to 8 soccer teams in year 7. Yeech

Given the amount they’ve spent on Knox 1 you’d hope the drainage is up to a few days of rain.

To be fair I don't think RorD has ever mocked the performance of another school's under 13 cohort.

What used to be the Australian Schoolboys has been replaced by the "Australian Schools and Under 18s" which is announced at the end of the academy matches and plays the internationals. It is the top junior squad in the country and picks up U18s that are at Uni or aren't at school. This aligns...
