Yes I agree, it's been gradually dying a slow death over last 10 to 20 years and there is a lot more to it than blaming one short sighted ARU director. Same causes that have lead to demise in junior club numbers in older age groups.

This has nothing to do with safety. .I'm sure there would have been at least one hooker amongst the 8 fresh reserves but to avoid going over player points they call uncontested. This makes a mockery of the game

Just in the issue of points system this is what the Sydney Uni president wrote in the 2015 Annual report. I'm not convinced his solution would help all other clubs play on a level playing field and that he doesn't really care

At Souths our u18s train with U20s colts and many sit on bench or back up for 2nd or 3rd colts. We are already seeing the fruits from the efforts in driving this age group.

My understanding is Sydney Juniors are looking after this & have done nothing to promote or organise the 2016 competition as of this week. Without a major enthusiastic drive by the majority of clubs, this critical stepping stone in the junior rugby pathway will sink once again.

I think this is a critical piece of the rugby pathway that needs serious attention if we are to offer rugby to teenagers that don't attend private schools.
