    Reds 2020

Agree with your forwards analysis and am happy to see that the backs I suggested a couple of weeks ago have come to fruition. I think we should stick with the in form 9,10,12,13 for awhile and let them further develop combinations. I thought CFS did well enough to keep his spot for another...

    Reds 2020

I prefer to pick on form. McDermott at 9, JOC (James O'Connor) and Stewart at 10/12 in interchangeable combination, Paisami at 13, Speight until Daugunu finishes suspension, Campbell on other wing and Hegarty at 15. Players low on form back to clubland when QPR starts, in order to get form back through...

    Super Rugby Rnd 2 2020 Lions v Reds @ Jo'burg - Sunday 12:05am AEDT

I'm with you BS. Lucas struggles with confined time and space when compared to JOC (James O'Connor), Hegarty or Gordon; so I'm hopeful the 10 experiment at Super level is over. Happy with HS at 12 but like you also think Paisami and Petaia would be an interesting combination.

Super Rugby Rnd 1 2020: Brumbies v Reds

While JOC (James O'Connor) is not a fantastic 10, he is a mile better than Lucas at 10 who really struggled in attack. The last ten minutes of the match with JOC (James O'Connor) at 10 and Paisami on the field ignited what had been a poor backline showing. Hope we see next week JOC (James O'Connor) start at 10 with Paisami and Petaia in the...

I believe another two might be Alatimu with Samoa and Toolis with Scotland

Down to 12 men for 10 mins. Two quick tries to UQ during that period. Game over

Not sure you necessarily want to win the Major Semi. Recent QPR history seems to indicate losing the Major and then playing the Preliminary Final is the best path to winning the Grand Final - ie not having a week off.

Brothers play GPS in Major Semi. Winner advances to GF two weeks later. East plays UQ in Minor Semi. Loser out. Winner plays loser of Major Semi in the intervening week before the GF with winner then going on to to the GF.

Disappointing inconsistencies in refereeing. Very obvious example at 63:50 when Brothers off feet over the ball with one then two off feet lying on the GPS side of the ball then a third and fourth resting on top sealing off while a fifth steals the ball. No penalty, however GPS continually...

Strongly agree that Gicquel was easily the best open side flanker going round last year, however he has not come through the much vaunted (but in my view overated) Australian schoolboy - U20s pathway. Kids and young men playing only or predominantly against kids and young men can look good...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2019

The blokes who came on as reserve front rowers didn't look like Colts to me and the names in Rugby Explorer for the FR bench don't reflect any Colts players. Something strange going on if you've got six front rowers for Prems, but three of them can't help out to ensure Reserve grade fronts up...

How is it that a club like Souths can't field a front row in Reserve grade (and thus start the game against UQ in Reserve grade with uncontested scrums) but still have a full front row on the bench for Premier grade? Am I missing something here?

And at least one start as a Hooker in Prem Grade (against GPS first round) along with some games off the bench in Prems, as well as being on the bench for Souths in the Finals alongside Paice.

i believe about 6 months, however Tuttle is young and resilient and I suspect will approach rehab with a very dedicated approach so could shorten this time by up to 6 weeks.

    The Wallabies Thread

I think it is turnovers followed by poor transition to defence that is our worst problem. Eight tries directly from turnover ball absolutely killed us and blew out the scorelines. Allowing the ball to be stripped from you should be a droppable offence. Late to seal off at the ruck (thereby...

I reckon you got about 50%. Pretty good considering the January date stamp of your post. Looking forward to your 2019 predictions.

    QLD Premier Rugby 2018

There are 2018 Competition Rules in place (see the bottom of he Reds Rugby/Premier Rugby/Overview page for the link), the problem is their application. The Souths exemption for Paice could not be granted under the extant Rules (outside the Management Committee granted authority) and so the QRU...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2018

The evidence doesn't appear to support your assertion. Rugby Link shows that on Sat 12 May this year he started at Hooker for Souths Premier grade against GPS, arguably one of the strongest scrums in the competition. Clearly can still play Hooker and Prop and you would think if he could start...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2018

The Souths Colt who played 2 for QLD Schoolboys II last year has been named alongside Paice for the Souths Premier grade bench this weekend as one of the three front row reserves. That says it all really.

    QLD Premier Rugby 2018

The irony is that there is no safety argument. From a refereeing perspective the provisions in Law 3 fully cater for the Souths circumstances and would preclude a safety issue from arising. The QRU has blinked first at the Souths threat to go to uncontested scrums and the QRU apparently...
