    NSW AAGPS 2024

Agree - focus on the key competitive advantage we have as a game... a connection to work post-footy. Looking cloer at Rugby League (credit to this post from Daneel in 2010 - https://www.1eyedeel.com/forum/topics/the-average-career-of-a-first): *36 per cent of players have played fewer than...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Here's an idea - based on a theory I have that RA and the State Unions make $0 from Schools Rugby on a day by day, year to year basis (in the long run they profit from the players produced), and hence they have little interest or involvement. If for example the private schools charged the Rugby...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Exactly - but I actually believe this is 'by design'. The ASRU Schools Championships is a tired concept that RA and the State Unions do not fully support. Ultimately, they want the academies (Waratahs, Brumbies, Reds) etc to be the premium product. The very fact that we have an Aus Barbarians...

I think you can work it out ;-)

    NSW AAGPS 2024

I am actually not too sure about that. We shall see when the mysterious list is finally released. Hartman was already named in the PONI squad earlier in the year. I understand that Masi (Makasini) is already in conversations with various NRL clubs also.

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Not completely - I felt that players previously included in the PONI squad, and with prior reputations may have been given preference over others...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

I hear you...and agree. Or they will turn up at an NRL club ;-). The winger selections were 'tainted' right across the GPS squads IMO.

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Yep, in the final selections, it seems the Blues an Whites just there to make up numbers i.e. keep it fair and make the Country and CCC boys get a game. However, the idea of giving as many boys as possible the opportunity to represent at this level is a good one. From my perspective, the ASRU...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

This was my complaint - ti was only available on the rugbynews.net site in the end. pretty pathetic.

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Gotcha - defo makes even more of a mockery of the PONI concept - several of those players IMO have been surpassed by emerging talent uncovered over this season and the last few days of the Schools trials. Who makes these decisions re: PONI structure etc. Maybe the SOARR group needs to refocus...

    What makes them ineligible?

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Is anyone else pissed that we cant' find the NSW Schools Squads (and PONI) anywhere - except on rugbynews.net.au who want to charge you for the privilege. I find this sort of thing, along with the general shiteness of the Rugby Explorer app etc an embarassment for Rugby.
