Sadly I have no video footage of the Nerang game this week. My camera became ill and sadly didn't make it out of the shop alive. However it's a good opportunity to upgrade. So by now I would have normally watched the game a number of times and have a very good feel of what happened but alas...

Thanks, just so long as we don't get too many injuries we'll be fine. The bench is a bit thin at the moment. We have Brothers this weekend and really don't know anything about them other than Brothers is generally a strong club. So we expect a hard game.

Yes, we at Nerang are expecting tough games in the u13's each week. So it's going to be good for the boys to learn to play hard games week-in/week-out, something they haven't been use to. And something that we definitely wanted them to get use to. Thanks Brisbane for the competition!!

    QLD GPS Rugby 2015

A quick look at last year's u12's Schools Rugby State Championship 'Program Guide' tells me there is one boy from Camp Hill SS who played for Met East. I believe he was also a State League Rep. No mention of any other Campers in the Union Met East Team. If that is true about the 8 or 9 players...

lol.. no, not when they ventured out there. Although they did alright when they attacked inside our 12 and around the rucks.

All are 100 All play rugby only. The inter school league carnival I mentioned earlier was just a once off. Many of the boys attend state high schools and there is no rugby. Three are at Pacific Pines for the rugby program there, but that doesn't start until Year 9. But the state schools just...

Correct: Bulls will play for GC Cyclones and Country if selected. They have already started a squad and had a fitness assessment yesterday - measuring the fastest and fittest (beep tests etc). Not surprisingly two of the Bulls players topped the tests amongst the 60 odd that were there. Good...

Okay, thanks... interesting. I agree; the conversion difference between Easts just meant the teams were close. And it also looks like the Sunnybank game was 2 trys a piece and Souths lost on conversions again. But as you say; it's only trials. Having watched some of Souths games on youtube...

Okay, interesting. I only had some clues as to who was in last year's Div 1 and we tried to predict who would be in it this year based on the grading results, so any information is great at the moment. Based on the results we thought the following teams in no particular order: Nerang...

Hi Gary, Yes we were told before the gradings that we would be put against some of the best teams because they wanted to see if we would be competitive in the Brisbane comp before they allowed us in. Interesting hit-out first up against Souths. I think both teams were finding their feet in the...

Yeah, we heard that about Souths successful season last year (and had a sneak peak at their youtube videos. I believe they did the same with us). I don't think they were taking our team lightly out there but only they would know. Regardless, it's great to have good competition. I also noticed...

Hi Iceman, Yes, we were hoping for an opportunity like this and have been asked to play in the Grading Games. I haven't received word back if this means we are actually in the competition yet or if we have just been given an chance to trial and they'll decided based on our performance. Which...

QLD Schools u12 Rugby State Championships

I think the frustrating thing from a Gold Coast perspective with the QJRU state champs was that the GCDRU picked 2 teams and then evened them out. With only 9 teams playing in the GC comp, there were a lot of players that weren't up to the standard and both teams had half a side that probably...

QLD Schools u12 Rugby State Championships

Yes Iceman, I agree that Met East had great recycle speed by their forwards and also thought #8 for Met East had a good game. I think the important word you used with regards to kicking was 'aimless' and I put that down to great pressure applied by Met East in the final. Kicking however can be a...

QLD Schools u12 Rugby State Championships

What a great weekend of Rugby at Sunnybank who hosted this year’s Queensland 12yrs Schools Rugby State Championship. The Championship was held over three days and saw eight school regional teams playing in two pools for a spot in the finals. What makes this championship differ from the recent...

    Queensland Junior Rugby

Gold Coast have picked squads of 46 in all age groups and have had selected two 'even' teams from there. So basically, the best players are spread out between the Gold and Blue teams. I can only speak of the u12's and know this has left a lot of holes in both the Gold and Blue teams, but I...

TAS Rugby Carnival 2014 Followed up on your advice and how right you are. We were very lucky enough to get a call up 8 weeks out from the event due to a team dropping out. We had some crazy last minute organisation to do but was able to pull a team together, have a few training runs, find...

Union or League? The pros and cons for school leavers

I would imagine every person is different and how you define success or what you want out of rugby (league or union) will be different. Whether it's about money, fame, development etc. I can't help to feel that if you play what you love doing, you'll have a greater chance of success whatever...

I'm also interested to know if anyone has any boys heading to Armidale for TAS Rugby Carnival at the The Armidale School in April. 50 schools and clubs from around Australia playing over 2 days. (Age: 12 years and under at the time of the Carnival). Should be a great weekend.
