I'd be happy with any one of them, but really was more looking at Super Rugby and LH where we need the quality, those guys were just a wish list to replace that particular player in answer to your question.

Campbell Magnay? Reece Hodge? Billy Meakes?

I had high hopes for Simone, but just hasn't produced and is well into his second season. Staniforth is not up to the job, basically NRC quality. Simmons you could keep but you would need a lot of bulk around him, I agree.

It was really a wish list... Though I'd think a real possibility of a shot at Wallaby Gold would make MA consider a switch!

    Waratahs 2018

I think he's a benchwarmer at best.... the fact that he's our starting TH is a reflection of the poor depth in the NSW squad. When he takes the ball into contact he gets turned over regularly, cannot move laterally and gets picked off regularly in defence, also has poor hands and spills a lot...

Here's my take on a Tahs squad refresh..... the current squad is not up to scratch! Starting with Coach Gibson, time is up! Ryan (May already be gone!) Fitzpatrick Sandell Tawake Simmons McAuley Staniforth Meafua Palmer Fekitau Kellaway Simone Clark Recruitment...

    The Wallabies Thread

IMO Maddocks gives you cover at 10, 11,14,15, Naivalu gives you 11,13,14, Gordon is quick enough to play wing if needed and Beale, Folau and Hodge can all play multiple positions at v high level. plus Kerevi gives you 12 & 13. Maddocks and Naivalu both have very serious gas, give you...

I'll go so far as having a crack at what the Wallaby XXIII will look like for the 2019 RWC. Not a bad looking crew if I do say so myself!;) TT Uelese Sio Coleman Tui Dempsey Hooper Naisarani Genia Foley Korebeite Beale Kerevi Hodge Folau Kepu Latu Slipper Rodda Pocock Gordon Naivalu Maddocks

We do have a big Fijian backrower............ except...... 1. He plays on the wing 2. He's not in the 23 But geez he can dent the line when he gets some speed up, problem is the rest of his game. I'd find a way to have him in the 23 though based on the inability of anyone else to do that...

    Waratahs 2018

Hopefully all year..... the bloke's been ordinary and I'd rather see a young fella like Swinton get a game. He's got a huge ticker and will only get better. I remember watching him play for Syd Uni against Norths in the SS GF in 2016. He was only 18 or 19 and built like a rake but was throwing...

    Waratahs 2018

Looked ordinary unfortunately. First carry he trundled into contact with poor body height and got stripped within 2 seconds. ( By a sharks back if my memory is correctly...) No noticeable impact in the scrums and don't recall any defence of note, mind I was watching it live and was a bit dozy...

Any info on Kalivate Tawake? Seems like he's on the plane to SA and Argentina with the squad. From what I can gather he's a capped Fiji player and was part of the Drua squad in the NRC. Is he any good? Hopefully a Loose-head and can push in front to TR.... Our starting front row was minced...

Or kept Simmons and Douglas and let Tui come home to Sydney..................

    Rebels 2018

I'd hazard a guess and say that's what's going to be coming every week this year. ie: 'high intensity, up and in defensive game' JD has a decent highlight reel but over the last few seasons you'd have to agree he has been pretty disappointing considering the opportunities he's had. He just...

    Rebels 2018

Unfortunately the Rebels recruitment guys forgot that without a quality 10 the backs spend most of the game watching forwards hitting up and chasing box kicks. Too many props/locks and o/s backs. No real quality in the crucial 10 spot. Hodge and Horwitz are more than serviceable 12's but JD is...

    Waratahs 2018

Thoughts on last nights trial vs Rebs. (Good quality stream via the tahs website btw) Tahs. Very enthusiastic and committed in defense. Chased everything and hitting hard in contact. Some sloppy ball movement in the first 30 min but made quite a few half breaks that could easily have...

    Waratahs 2018

So best match day 23 to look something like this (with hopefully McCalman and maybe another 9? Louwrens possibly?) Really lacking heavyweight ball carriers in the pack, can see us getting beaten in the collision, 3 of our biggest guys are in the backs with Izzy, TN and Rona!!!!! Kepu Latu...

    Waratahs 2018

Any news on Rona or McCalman etc? Read somewhere they were mentioned to be talking to the Tahs? They would be a big boost to the roster

    Waratahs 2018

I'd pick Dennis too based on where Dempsey is at now, but Dempsey looks to have some great upside. Dennis wasn't underrated by too many tahs fans...

    Waratahs 2018

I agree, we are going to really struggle to get over the ad line, it doesn't seem that long ago when we had a Championship winning pack with the likes of Kepu, TPN, Skelton, Douglas, Potgeiter, Dennis, Palu and Hooper. Sadly only two remain...... Replaced with the likes of Robertson...
