It is great to hear that SLC is still rewarding their boys in year 12 after the season. Year 12 ends for so many after QCS you see. However, it is hoped that many at all AIC schools are becoming better at rugby by continuing other sports available at school until the end of the year.

OK, XXXX, I am very new to this but thanks for your advice. Honestly, after I wrote 'what I wrote, ' I was surprised to see it in the GPS category (I thought it was in the Schoolboys Qld section). Either way all parents and kids need in our present day is an 'all-round' education as you...

Monday's Expert(s) (great song by Weddings Parties Anything), Is it the boys or their parents being sweet talked over to GPS? Before being charged with starting a 'class war' (or being told to move the discussion to another thread), I have seen many parents seduced by the promised aura of...

    AIC Rugby 2013

I have not been at any of the Thursday and Friday games, however, I saw most AIC teams play this year. Wilkin and Junior were clearly Aust Schoolboys and Devine was only bettered by the St Eddies boys. If indeed all three of these young men were off (it is hoped that they will be right for...

Dare I say it c'arn mate (95)! Allow us please to bask in the knowledge that our comp (where your sons can get educated at half the price) is presently in the mix well and truly. I was told by an AIC sportsmaster yesterday that the size differences between us and the monstorous GPS boys was...

QLD Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2013

There are many factors to consider here but you are right Dark Stark many do not kick on. Research in sport worldwide suggests of course that Junior rep teams are made up from guys born Jan-June in the majority. This of course allows blokes/girls to develop other skills: tactical, technical...

All schools have lifted - I'd like to think everybody would think this is a great thing. Having worked in Rugby in the above tier comp (GPS) as well, I think it is also wonderful for social reasons. Most of the AIC boys are in a culture where educators are highly respected and arrogance is not...

Yeah the stats definitely show that at 1st XV level Ashgrove no longer dominate. As long as that's partly because other school are catching up I think that can only be a good thing for AIC and QLD rugby in general. If the most dominant team now has to really work hard to maintain that title it...

Eagle, I am old-fashioned but reckon even if Jack Gibson was an old boy parent and had T. Raudonikis, Bob Dwyer, Allan Jones, Leigh Matthews, Sir Alex Fergurson, Pat Cash and Grant Kenny as mates willing to help, you are right in suggesting that the teaching staff need to be involved to improve...

Yes Damon Kelly - that's him thanks. GPS is definitely a closed shop. As a kid I loved the trek up the range to play them. Once talked to a Priest/Brother in Downlands whom I was coaching against whose 13As killed my mob: he said that they only had 75 kids in year 8 and 4 rugby teams - pretty...

Royalderry does Laurie's not use the Olympic weightlifter (can not remember his name) for S&C? If not, they are mad - teaching kids about speed and power through cleans and snatches...seems like a no-brainer to me. I would agree with you on Padua. Now that Eddies is playing to their potential...

I would agree with several posts regarding the change of attitude by school hierarchy... (This was stated by a wordly poster above) Yes sadly, this is schools...and we are now part of the pressure... I have met the Laurie's Principal. I am sure that I called him 'mate' which is 'not on'...

    AIC Rugby 2013

Yes well done indeed to all boys. With fears expresed above (from myself included) about the decline in rugby from ASH and SLC, the teams also show what a strong competition the AIC now is. In 2005 at an AIC school where I once taught, the running joke was how the ASH chess coordinator got the...

    AIC Rugby 2013

The generations have changed - they are bigger now but are not as skillful, despite better coaching. SLC and ASH are certainly suffering but do not discount the fact like somebody mentioned (was it ruggun?) that others have invested (keeping them nameless): Padua - Coaching coordinator...
