Super Rugby RD 7 - Waratahs v Brumbies

So was that the Brumbies getting a little bit cocky or the Waratahs actually not being utter rubbish, or both?

Super Rugby Rnd 7: Rebels v Reds

Because Hunter is killing it! But the first Wallabies backline will be JOC (James O'Connor) 10, To'omua 12, Paisami 13. But To'omua is the third of that group.

Super Rugby Rnd 7: Rebels v Reds

No way To'omua is the best 10, he's the best goal kicker, and he's a very good player, genuine world class 12. JOC (James O'Connor) & Lolo are better flyhalves. To'omua isn't as good as putting guys in holes, or organising the backline, he's probably neck and neck with O'Connor got his running game, and is perhaps...

Super Rugby Rnd 7: Rebels v Reds

I agree that Gordon isn't ready, but To'omua also and equally isn't a flyhalf. Just look at the Rebs when the very average Degan was playing 10 for them in a similar backline and they just looked so much better. I do worry for the Rebs next year, but they really need to develop their own...

Super Rugby Rnd 7: Rebels v Reds

I have thought the best / ideal Rebels backline would be something like: 9 Powell, 10 Gordon, 11 Koro, 12 To'omua, 13 Ili, 14 Pincus, 15 Hodge.

I still don't get why Hodge isn't playing 15. He'd be a shoe in for Wallabies 15 if he regularly played 15. And Melbourne can more easily replace a center than a fullback/winger.

@Reg He played 13 in the NRC a few games, not a whole lot, but he has. Has anyone actually seen confirmation of BPA going? There was speculation like last year, but I've not seen anything since?

Super Rugby Rnd 7: Rebels v Reds

Yeah, was going to say exactly that, if the Broncos can get it surely the Reds will be allowed in... If they aren't @Rebels fans should riot in the streets (but in a COVID safe way)!

Super Rugby Rnd 7: Rebels v Reds

The problem with going to Victoria is it's moving, they don't know what the Victorian Gov are going to do, and if they're going to be in impromptu tour for a while, Sydney is the peace to base yourself. They've got Rugby Austrlia there (handy given the pics today), NSW is the State most likely...

Super Rugby Rnd 7: Rebels v Reds

I'd also point it it's not like the Reds are 'getting off scott free' or something, they were supposed to be in Sydney overnight ... they had to use Wallabies training gear because they didn't have training stuff. Sure the Rebs didn't get to say goodbye to family when they left earlier in the...

Has anyone considered Stewart potentially playing 13? He's played really well at 13 in the NRC.

    Wallabies 2021

    Game 1 against France. 1) Robertson 2) BPA 3) Tupou 4) LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) 5) Phillip 6) Samu 7) McReight 8) Wilson 9) White 10) JOC (James O'Connor) 11) Koroibete 12) Paisami 13) Ikitau 14) Daugunu 15) Hodge 16) Mafi 17) Slipper 18) AAA 19) Hosea 20) Uru 21) McDermott 22) To'omua 23) Petaia

    Wallabies 2021

If you take his goal kicking out of the equation (and JOC (James O'Connor) & Lolo have been very good too), and To'omua is probably the 3rd flyhalf. And Paisami is easily the form 12 or 13. I think To'omua gets that bench utility role. If Hodge can play 15 for the Rebels for a length of time then he'll be a shoe...

Super Rugby Rnd 7: Rebels v Reds

Seriously, sometimes the Melbourne chip is more of a crevice, perhaps even a canyon... It's not like the Reds didn't do whatever they could to ensure the game goes ahead. And yes it's good that that load is being shared by more than the Force/Rebels. But it's not really a Rugby Austrlia...

So Vuni is out, what's the backline? Droasese comes in to the wing? Or Stewart comes in to the center, with Paisami to 13 and Petaia to the wing?

Super Rugby Rnd 7: Rebels v Reds

Yeah, Reds have stayed in Sydney. But given all the drama for the Reds, this game is looking like a Rebs ambush could be on.

    Wallabies 2021

BPA is clearly the best hooker at the Reds and most likely the best hooker in Australia. He's down on form (because he's not played enough) but he's looked REALLY impressive in his few games, IMO Mafi and BPA will probably be the two Wallabies Hookers. .

    Wallabies 2021

Those who are suggesting Vunivalu is lucky to be in the squad and that he's too green, the dude has over 300 points (try points too not those easy goal kicking points) in NRL, he's got over 100 NRL caps, he's won two premierships with the Storm, and runner up twice more... Yes over 4 years. Yet...

    Reds 2021

Honestly, it looks pretty standard pendulum defense with dual fullbacks. Especially given the 50-22/22-50 the FB and FH both drop back to cover the sidelines. The winger closest to the FH / furthest from the FB covers the 10 channel. The Reds had a similar scheme with Quade. Cheika on the other...
