Qld Country - official NRC thread

Sunny Coast to miss out all together? That's a shame. I guess with only 4 "home" games a season the Uni was going to insist on at least 2. Top marks for getting games out to T-bar and the Ville though. Pre-season games in Toowoomba have been pretty successful over the years. I know it'll never...

Qld Country - official NRC thread

There's 4 "home games" each in the NRC. Surely, Brisbane City can have the "home" fixture against Country, which could give Country leeway for 1 game in each of Toowoomba, Townsville, GC & SC, with the Derby at Ballymore. Then again, I think road-trips to FNQ are a bit of a waste if you're...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Greg Growden earned his reputation after two decades of dribble. It's entirely unfair on dribble to be associated with Wayne Smith

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Considering Wayne's dribble has been %100 correct and predicted the culling of an Aussie Super franchise as early as September last year.... I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and let him keep his sources anonymous for as long as we remain in the loop.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Talkfests behind closed doors. For the sake of transparency the ARU could release publish all 14 for feedback. Maybe for the sake of transparency they could release a simple pie chart indicating where the unbudgeted $28 million was spent. Maybe, for the sake of transparency the ARU could...

Jaguares vs Force - Velez Sarfields Stadium

You can make that statement about all 4 Aussie teams who are sitting at just 3 wins each

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The Bronco's are a publicly listed company on the ASX. However, regarding the Rebels, it's not really about generating profit though. There's probably zero money to be made out of rugby in Melbourne for the next 5 years. The ARU has come out and said they have been considering cutting a team...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Is Cronk relevant to "where to for Super Rugby?" Take it to Wallabies 2016 and onwards folks

    Rebels v Reds, Sat 13 May @ 7:45pm

Anything short of a BP win and the Reds season is over I think.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I'd agree with it if it were the deciding factor on which Aussie team didn't make Super Rugby next year, but that can't be the case due to legal restraints. In that light, I'd prefer the ARU aimed a little bigger, and took a leaf from the Big Bash's book and introduced 2 teams in your biggest...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Judging by the alarming decrease in viewership at broadcast and ground level, I'd say most people would rather watch anything else.

    Rugby World Cup 2019

Wow, I didn't realize that all three of Tonga, Samoa and Fiji had fallen out of the Top 12. With USA & Canada also in the mix this will hopefully shape as the most competitive ever. There's realistically 16-17 teams that could beat eachother on any given day. It certainly bodes well for WR (World Rugby).

    The Wallabies Thread

I don't mind the lack of extreme pace. DHP & Folau have the uncanny ability to always beat the first tackle. Couple that with Folau's offload and DHP's boot, their all round games will save / result in a lot more points than the out and out speed of Speight/Naivalu

    NRC onwards and upwards

I would have agreed with you 3 months ago but things have really changed. There's a 50% chance that Melbourne will never see the Reds or Tahs play again. Instead, it'll be treated to Rising vs. Rams/City/Spirit. I think with one team on the chopping block and our number of professional...

Chiefs v Reds, Rd 11, Sat May 6th, 5;35pm AEST

Nabuli off for Kuridrani. Watching Nabuli get gassed by Steven Donald is probably the lowlight of the night for me :(

Chiefs v Reds, Rd 11, Sat May 6th, 5;35pm AEST

I think it's more the Back 3 of the Chiefs are exceptional at working off the bal.

Chiefs v Reds, Rd 11, Sat May 6th, 5;35pm AEST

The commentators are dead right with the Kerevi incident. One or two phases later they score and it's 32-12 instead of perhaps 25-19. Very frustrating, but it happens.

    NRC onwards and upwards

Personally, I don't think the NRC can make a dent in the Australian market place in it's current format. It needs a complete rebranding and the cutting of a NSW team so that the competition has an even amount of teams. I don't think that that many casual rugby followers would be interested in...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The sports market isn't what it used to be, yes. However there has been a massive failure by media companies to adapt to the changing market, especially in Australia. Telstra's NRL app broadcasts on ipad screen size and isn't suitable for Television/Household subscriptions. The AFL (though...

A conspiracy is something that is unfounded and cannot be proven true.
