    Brisbane Global Rugby Tens

There was more at the Tens than at the 9s and the games were far more expansive than the boring crap played in Auckland.

    QLD GPS Rugby 2017

It all went wrong in 2002 - Sailor, Rogers and Tuquiri. $700,000 contracts 15 years ago. Shifted the traditional rugby player's focus to the mighty green. Look at where we are today. Half the best talent and experience playing in Europe and Japan. Force and Rebels propped up by second rate...

    AIC Rugby 2017

There's now reasons to like Padua, Iona, Lauries, Eddies, Ashgrove and Villa. But St. Peters can be a surprise packet and who will write off the rugby culture at St. Pats? The big guns will want to be on their toes each week.

    AIC Rugby 2017

Well, that puts Eddies on the radar - thanks David! Those young fellas playing in the First XV will most likely benefit from the experience or be scarred by the step up! Hope it's the former and they are a strong competitive side. The AIC comp needs it. Good luck to them!!

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

An under 15 player could have at least 5 different coaches this year. School, club, regional (eg: MetWest), JGC and State. Is that such a bad thing, coaches?

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

That (coaching/development) is what I was implying should be the focus and not selections in a team for a meaningless competition. Eventually they are going to have to get used to different coaching styles and philosophies.

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

I agree with points from both sides of the argument. More important than the recognition of rep selection is the chance for enhanced skilling from qualified mentors/coaches and the opportunity to mix with a different set of players than school/club. High performance training and exposure to...

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

This under 15 team would suggest otherwise and that the QRU are doing a good job identifying a cross section of players. Granted, the GPS comp is stronger but not all the good ones are attending GPS schools...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

BBC in Brisbane don't plan from year 9. They plan from year 8! ......and good luck to them. Their 14As came third last year.

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

Makes lots of sense to keep selections focused on SEQ. The mail is that Brisbane will only have two teams. Judging by what I saw in the BJRU this year, that is the right number from a rep perspective.

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

Awesome initiative and at only $3k a pop, maintains the perception that schoolboy rugby development is for the rich.

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

Should be a good little comp with less teams. If QLD is anything to go by, having only 3 teams will make for about 69 players against the comp earlier this year that had that many teams just from Brisbane - plus a team from Ipswich/Brisbane West. Plus the QLD regional teams.... And because it...

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

And if NSW and QLD presumably provide the bulk of the teams, from what regions?

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

It is a long way off, but does anyone know where the 10 teams will come from for this 5 week JGC comp?
