You may be right Southern X but he slotted into that 12 channel a lot in attack and that is where he made some great runs. I watched the Reserve Grade game as well and Ben struggled at 10 but he seemed to love the extra space and time out wider of that in Premier Grade.

I think a bit of credit for the improved second half performance should go to Ben Damon who slotted into 12 after playing 10 for reserve grade for the Doggies. His running lines were great and he allowed a bit more time and space for Sam Greene but Greene definitely didn't look out of his depth...

Off to see the West's trial games at Shaw Rd this weekend. Have only seen them at training so will be good to see how they are on the paddock against opposition. Positive vibe coming out of the club so hopefully a good day for the Doggies.

Sam Hicks played 10 at the 2011 QJRU State Titles in Toowoomba and was a stand out. His vision suits fullback and I am just being converted to the idea of him as an inside centre because of his hard straight running and ball playing skills at the line.

Went to see my beloved Doggies at Shaw Rd on Saturday and Phil Mooney has definitely had a great influence on the Premier Grade boys. Showed some great signs against Norths and with the injection of some Otago blood, and existing players stepping up, they will be a lot mjore competitive in 2012!
