    Shute Shield 2014

I think they should reserve a block of time for the video review? - and have a look at the first WH try - an obvious dummy spit from SU - "how dare somebody score first points against them so quickly" - very professional (not) - don't miss the debacle of what should have been a penalty -...

Hey Hugh J. I think the "younger fellows" from 2011 Under 16s - ? who could very well be there next year - as well? - should also get a mention! NSW SCHOOLS U16'S on Web 2011 NSWSRU U16’S - Posted on NSWSRU Lachlan Cannell Killara HS Hayden Cochrane St Augustine's College Rory David The...

Yesterdays match South's vs the students score didn't reflect the actual game. Students are vulnerable in the forwards - seem to rely on the speed of their two wingers - awesome to watch in full flight - however they had a lot of ball pilfered from them by a more enthusiastic bunch. Manly need...

For the record - SD were at least five regular players down (two Under 20 squad players - injured), resting Aussie School boy rep (also injured) and at least two other regular colts team with extended injuries. However I don't think their attendance would have mattered - SD's weakness is their...

Player Points System (PPs) (particular reference to Colts 2013) - Is it time for a review? Fascinating area on googling PPs and courtesy of www.theroar.com.au/2011/08/09/how-the-shute-shield-salary-cap-works/ The Shute Shield has a salary cap… well, at least the equivalent of a salary cap...

Methinks you missed my point - the draw is what it is. Good luck to 2 blues. To quote one german philosopher (Frederich Nietschze) "what doesn't kills makes us stronger" underpins what I think will benefit Southern Districts team and their lead up to the finals. They will give it their best...

I understand Waldo will stay with Colts Ists however - one of the great advantages with Southern Districts is being given the opportuntiy to play up in Grade - which quite a few Colts have enjoyed and benefited from this year. Character building and experience the games physicality at another level!

At another level - I think Southern Districts last few games will be good for them. I wouldn't like Parramatta's draw - especially as they have played the top four teams once this year. (Southern will have played the top four twice). Except for Warringah they have a reasonable run to the finals...

Cheers that makes sense. When Penrith played Southern Districts last week - pretty sure the seconds backed up for the firsts - 180 minutes of union can take its toll. Still managed this with good humour - to delight the crowd with dig-eri-doo playing with the corner posts whilst waiting a...

Update 20 July 2013 : Not a pretty game - Southern Districts beat Norths at home this afternoon by ten points. Not a bad performance considering they had two yellow cards that left them down a man for half the second term. Not sure of the reason why Sydney Uni only beat Penrith 28 zip (whilst...

Last year the U19s Academy side played on the October long weekend at Ballymore whilst the U17s played further up the coast in a weird round robin (half games) with various State teams. I heard a game for NSW under 17s being planned for ACT this year - ? about same time. The cone of silence...

You are not wrong with the games coming up. SD like all the teams have had their trials and tribulations throughout the year. Some internal stuff has been settled and a number of injuries on the heal. So what happens on each day - happens. There are some interesting opinions out there - for...

I watched Manly Vs Souths last week - Souths lost by a point. I also witnessed one of the Manly official entourage tell the Souths officials they should have won the game which I thought was a unique gesture. This was backed up reviewing the Manly RU website - "1st Grade Manly had only led...

Randwick Vs Souths Colts 1 - last weekend Worth a note to say Souths came back with a good attitude after last week's humiliation - in fact lead 11-10 at oranges. Neil Favager the referee took control from the onset and did not blush in his management of the game - whistle and arm got a...

Missed my point Hammy. Not always about the size (as I have been told over the years) or the number of tries - as anyone who has played in a rugby team that cops a thrashing - it becomes meaningless once the gap is over 40 points - it becomes Academic pardon the pun (should raise a snigger and...
