Good luck to all boys in the GPS teams. Those in the Second, Blue and White teams should take heart from their selection. Found last years programme. Fred Tricks from GPS 2 made it into NSW 1 and then the Australian Barbarians team from strong performances in trials.

Predictions this week a little more straightforward: Order of how teams will finish also becoming clearer. Scots by 20 Kings by 10 Joeys by 50 My predictions for the season: 1. Scots - too big and strong in the forwards with backs now firing. 2. Joeys - gallant, busy and fit...........but...

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

This may well be our year. Some real talent across the park. In the pack I see at least 4 future wallabies in Bell, Hosea, McReight and Harris. It's the best back row unit we've probably ever had at U20. All with size, speed and fitness. Of the backs Lucas and Nawaqanitawase are my pick. But...

Going to disagree with you this week Quick Hands. Home team advantage coming into play. Newington over Joeys by 6 - A devastating start for the Joeys faithful. Riverview over Kings by 10 - Riverview the dark horse of the pre season. Kings failing to live up to expectation. And.....Shore over...

Following last saturday there is renewed hope from this Scots supporter. First half lost to Knox 7-5. Second half beat Knox 35-7. Complete turnaround. Flowing rugby, ball kept alive and a growing confidence from the backs as things started to click. The Scots performance in the first half was...

Hard to argue with any on those predictions Quick Hands. With the Scots game they could scrape home narrowly or even lose if they don't get things happening behind the scrum. If they get it together it could be a 40 point win. Savala still injured which is a concern. Needs to be a dramatic...

There are a lot of boys at GPS schools now affiliated with NRL Clubs. Union has only itself to blame. The pathway through to Australian Schools is a minefield where talented boys with an injury at the wrong time or who simply aren't favoured by the selectors, get left behind. Beyond the school...

I thought the ref was a little overzealous on occasion but he did not ruin the game. Scots need to be smart enough to understand how the referee of the day is playing the offside rule. It can........and does vary by game. Some of the penalties for 'high tackles' were a bit pedantic. When a...

Congratulations to Joeys for the win yesterday.....thoroughly deserved. They were by far the better side. Joeys weaknesses - the scrums, several against the head where they were pushed off their own ball, and an inability to stop the rolling maul without conceding a penalty. But their backs...

Even the Joeys faithful have to admit they were somewhat fortunate to win last year. Last minute tries and a few results going their way. Taking nothing from them but the stars certainly aligned. They will need more than luck this year and early indications are that their defence hasn't...

You can't win the GPS competition with defence that poor. Uncharacteristic of Joeys to bleed points so easily. Mid table for Joeys based on last 2 weeks performances. My early prediction: 1. Kings 2. Scots 3. Joeys 4 & 5 Riverview and Newington (can't decide in which order) 6. alas Shore again...

BANNED!!! Joker may be close to the edge with the photo posts but remains the life and soul of the GPS forum. A slap on the wrist and a clearer definition of the boundaries perhaps... Seems very harsh... Damaging posts are those that single out boys for criticism and I've yet to see Joker do...

Over 10 years under Dr Lambert I have seen a growing passion for rugby. The number of boys in attendance at away matches to support the team is testament to this. A large contingent singing loudly in support of the bagpipes at Lane Cove 2 weeks ago for an early season trial match was great to...

Good to see them on the main oval as well! I know many a boy in lower grades who treasured playing a rare game on the first XV pitch when fixtures allowed. They always rose to the occasion and played above themselves. Nice one Joker.
