NSW Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2011

Chris Talakai was still officially in the team until wednesday until his MRI results proved that he was insufficient for a week of games.

Selection politics and bias, Gold Squads unfairness etc.

If you think Baraket has outplayed Miller this year, you are sadly mistaken. Miller was rightly not picked for NSW because of poor performances for GPS but has easily been scots best player (ahead of Stewart and Walters) and one of the inform GPS players. One of the reasons he didn't get picked...

The bloke your talking about durka is Sam Jerry, not under 16's. Was thought to be playing 1's but got injured early in the season and couldn't fight his way back.

Who's Tipped to be the 10 come aus schoolboys time. Good players from below the boarder with 4 flyhalfs picked (across the two teams) but no one really putting there hand up. Any standouts from QLD.

A lot of talk about Dempsey (6 GPS II), and yes i do think he was a standout in yesterdays games. However, i don't think he does the hard work that is required from a backrow. You never see him at the rucks, always defending even outside the 10 or 12 channels. Sure he makes breaks, is a rampant...

I didn't catch the game, but a close friend of mine told me he saw the game, and the ref had one of the worst games he had ever seen. Apparently, after the match, a Joey's father confronted the ref and told him exactly that. Can anyone else verify this?

Theres a lot of talk about how scots and joeys are over represented and iggies have only 3 players in the 1st and there an undefeated side. Scots are a different team that played iggies in the second round on trials. They didn't have stewart, no herden, no 'magical' kellaway. The team scots...

He has only played 3 games at fly half, previously at inside because Stewart was at injured. But he has ripped up since coming into flyhalf against newington and especially kings. and today his running game was outstanding. My only critisim is that he is not the greatest kicker but definitely...

You could say scots are favourites for their clash with Joeys, going on recent form. But Joey's at home is always tough. I think Grammar are being sold as stronger than usual and some are picking Grammar to touple Kings when they play.

Funny, I still think Horwitz is the right choice

Here's what I thought for the 1sts: 1: Alaatoa (New) 2: Barratt (Grammar) 3: Barakat (Scots) I thought the selectors might play him out of position, because I don't think they'll play him at six in front of Dempsey. He played prop for 2nds GPS/NSW last year. Scots moved him to six 4: Rorke...

Yes it's always nice to see a Grammar boy get a good spot. Have you seen him play? Dan Herden from Scots is an option as well. A hard working, hard running hooker. Also formally an open-side.

GPS Selections next week. Does anybody have a potential team's for 1st's and 2nd's? The hooker role seems to be wide open...I know that Harry Randell, who was u/16 NSW schools open side last year has been playing hooker for Kings, but he cant throw...

The Kings 5/8 against Scots was definitely Tourish, one of the biggest 10's i've seen (and it showed in his defence), looks like he would be more useful at inside. Kings could then move Faketi into an outside back position, cause I don't think he played to his full potential at 12.

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2011

I would be careful in saying those things about Stuart. For all we know he could be at full strength. As well as that, it would be terrible for a player to get it into his mind that he should smash him and try and put him out for the season, careers could get ruined that way.

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2011

If that really is the case, then a good choice for the selectors would be the current Scots 10, Horwitz. Superb ball distribution skills, which he showcased against Kings. Solid-enough defence as well. But to me, it looks like the flyhalf position is definitely not set, I wouldn't put it past...

\ I don't think anyone can rule out Scots's number 6 Barakat, He played GPS and NSW 2's last year at prop, and has brought fearless aggression to the Scots pack. Is it likely that the selectors might pick him at prop? Because I know that he has played all his games so far this year at 6.
