Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2013

As I have stated in the past, I grew up with league but converted to rugby for obvious reasons. For me its the better game. Nevertheless having legal and sports admin/mgmt qualifications means I walk both sides of the fence.

Yes indeed. I did however say 'Representative' players so I am talking about only those who have been chosen for NSW/QLD U/18 and U/20's rugby league teams, Australian Schools (league and to a certain degree rugby), NZ representative teams (league and rugby). Most teams only have 1 or 2 of...

Trade or Qualifications: there is now the 'Graduates of League' program. For example the Dragons have a relationship with Wollongong University and a fair few players on their roster attend this institute. I know UWS and ACPE are also on board as is TAFE. Have a look at this link -...

IS, Would your opinion/view be swayed if the price tag was a minimum $15-25K for the first year of Holden Cup and doubling in the second year? They are the figures representative players (i.e. state and/or national - from both Australia or NZ - rugby or league) coming into the Holden Cup are...

:DAnswer: No it wasn't. He was probably Fijian mate:D  PS: I had to ring my father for that translation and copped an earful as to why I should have learnt Gaelic like my older brother. Cheers for that one Brian?

So true! As the elusive Brian Westlake impliedly notes - Results=Positive KPI's=Secure Employment

How can I soar like an eagle when I am surrounded by turkeys that can't count LOL! It's six (6). You left out Morris and Tufui, notwithstanding the team they represented was Australia A.

HJ, I can confirm (though I won't reveal whom) that I have known several 'junior selectors' to read these pages! G&GR has an informative membership mate and some like to pay attention to it as far junior players are concerned!

Oh yes! He was a Dutch prince. Cut from the same cloth as the SAffers HJ!

Don't get me started on those so-and-so's! They were more British than the English! LOL

Rock, With the greatest of respect I wouldn't put forward the Holden Cup competition as the shining example of why defence is better on the league side of the fence. Having seen quite a few HC games this years they don't call it 'TURNSTILE CUP' for no reason! You get lower scoring cricket matches!

No need to thank us LG, we Irish have always been accommodating hosts, just ask the >%#@&$ English (who admittedly overstayed their welcome for near over a Millenia ... ... ... lol!)

A timeless cliche LG! Love it!

LMAO@U/19's! Perhaps we should send our JWC U/20's team to tour the UK. They came a respectful 7/8th this year did they not? I know they lost to the Ireland U/20's so they should be relatively competitive as far as U/18's go!

And what IS said above me with respect to academies. Some U/18 lads in the UK now train and play rugby full time since leaving school! Remember the England U/18 team not long ago; it gave Australian 'SCHOOLS' (emphasis added) an absolute rugby lesson!

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2013

No he is not! He is merely suggesting that Australia will only be sending U/18 schoolboys! The other nations will be able to draw from a much wider talent pool (i.e. U/18 lads who have now since finished school).

IS, It was me who made this call; essentially it was made a couple of minutes after the game when my emotions were running high but I would still stand-by the comment! My reason for doing so relates to the second part of your comment; to which I emphatically subscribe! Yes the M&M's played...

And they will be bloody good teams as well. I won't be surprised if the majority of the boys (from all the home nations - as they are called) are in Aviva league development squads, and have been so for the past 2/3 years!

I agree wholeheartedly with you on this one IS! He is reminding me of England's 5 foot nothing tenacious flanker Neil Back. He was destined to finish his career in the England B team until the same team went on a development tour to NZ in the mid 90's. He later went on to secure his place in...

Australia seriously snatched defeat from the jaws of victory IMHO! They were the better team throughout the whole game! It was theirs to win!
