Northern Son - If you check the thread started by Lily you will find that, I beleive it was Lee Grant, listed players who attended the first camp. A few of these were new forwards if you check it against the squad from last year. The selections, I hear, will be posted in early May some time.

If your scrums not good enough, you get marched over. Thats the way it once was. its called scrum dominance. The penalities that are now coming from scrums are from cheating, not dominance. Too many times there have been penalties awarded to the wrong side.

Another idea is to simply not reward the teams that can manipulate the scrum. Take the penalties away - those teams that collapse a scrum for the 50/50 chance of being rewarded a penalty will soon realise that collapsing a scrum is not beneficial. Good scrumaging will become the empahsis...

They tried the pre-bind in the late '80's' for a very short time. The props, who could put a hit on in this short space, got penalised. No force was to be used unitl the scrum was engaged.

Even if we kept it to home games as curtain raiser games to the Super 15 local derbies. Still need a tier between Prem Grade and Super Rugby but this would be great for the development of rugby in Australia. The more rugby, the better.

I agree - at this stage and level, ball skills should not be too much of a concern.

From the sounds of it the second half was about giving all the boys a run.

My understanding is that it is not about a 'team effort', but an opportunity for the coaches/selectors to watch the lads in a game situation.

I have looked extensively but have not found any references to the training squad. Only know of some names from W.A., N.S.W. and Q.L.D.
