    QLD GPS Rugby 2017

Qld 7's just released a list of Qld boys with 20 gps school boys in the squad of 45(I think). Some of these boys are in Hilltops list. I wonder if any would emerge in 2017 with potential to go all the way to making Aust schoolboys. . .with the big european tour looming then.

    Rugby 7s general chat

Wow, that is a very interesting development in the world of rugby 7's. It poses a lot of questions. For such a high profile coach(proven record), why Samoa? He can go anywhere in the tier One world of rugby and name his price as a 7's coach. Is Ben Ryan's recent success with Fiji, a challenge...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2016

As the curtain is once again drawn on the Australian schoolboys#rugby#calendar for 2016, it remains a conundrum for another year. The critics and the experts divulge the pros and cons of coaches and selectors, and the relentless and brutal examination of the youngsters who hopefully have not...

Which clubs are the Class of 2016 going to?

Nudgee College big guns Willie Malala (QLD I), Augustus Rangihuna (QLD II), Semisi Tupou (QLD II) and TJ Meni are lining up for UQ's Rugby Sevens team this weekend. Add Murray Taulagi to an already formidable UQ 7's team that easily won the Noosa International 7's tournament on the wkend. BUT...

    Rugby 7s general chat

No doubt we need fresh new comers to Aust men's 7's, if we are to compete with the humongous giants of Fiji & kiwis . My 2 (must have) criteria's are : 1. Explosive speed 2. Power (size height and strength).

    QLD GPS Rugby 2016

It raises the question of the coaches. How much should the gps rugby programs invest in the coaches to provide top level (cutting edge), coaching standard. A number of the gps schoolboys coaches are also involved and heavily committed to the Brisbane club rugby comps. Is it helpful? How much is...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2016

Agree king. Word is he may opt out from coaching 1st XV in 2017. Either way he has had the last laugh if this was his swan song as BSHS coach.

    Growing QLD Schoolboy Rugby

Im assuming Waugh's point on "rugby's best talent is spread across all areas of Sydney and Brisbane", is a reference to the disputed higher echelon gps school rugby comp in both states appear to be, by far the best, so most of the country's rugby talent appear to gravitate to gps comps.(my...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2016

Great find gentlemen!! Very interesting indeed. I have a thought regarding this "Team of the Season". I wonder if the stakeholders(administrators of the concept), would consider making the selection criteria eligible only for the yr 12's as a recognition and support of their efforts in gps...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2016

.....I guess only time will tell if the class of 2013 will have any that will emerge and make the transition from schoolboys to the professional ranks.....in the same token, im curious if any schoolboys who didnt make the 'team of the 2013' have made a name for themselves.

    QLD GPS Rugby 2016

I realise this 'team of the gps season 2016' is a reflection of G&G experts and some gps coaches reflections. Any chance of posting previous yrs 'teams of the season' just for fun and a mock reflection of where are they are now ? Its not a bad way of gaging how far these gps schoolboys with so...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2017

Any idea what the ages are of these boys(on your list) Hilltop view? I am aware Nudgee college's speedster Willie Malala is returning but is ineligible to play 1st Xv rugby in 2017 due to age.

Interesting perspective from Phil Wagh on schoolboys rugby and its impact role for the wallabies : . . ."I am not going to enter into the debate of how our schoolboy rugby should be structured because there are so many variables that need to be considered, however I would like to entertain how...

    Growing QLD Schoolboy Rugby

Amateur vs Professionalism : Love of the game vs career path that puts "food on the table" : Both have a place to co-exist because not all will have the skill set to competently go to that nxt level(professional rugby)..and are happy to just get muddy ..attend uni or other meaningful pathways to...

Does anyone have any info on Aust Schoolboys game against Samoa on Saturday?

    Growing QLD Schoolboy Rugby

I agree. Nothing is for free. Schools would definitely consider a proposal by stakeholders if the incentive is beneficial for the schools eg. gps comp schools. Money talks..but does the ARU have the deep pocket to fund such an initiative? NZ schools would be well compensated for their...

    Growing QLD Schoolboy Rugby

King, your -points are no longer valid as professional rugby has transformed the environment and rugby culture at schools: eg. NZ 1st XV competition. the general concensous amongst 14-16 yr olds is to be like their rugby idle, not just "for fun"...excuse the punt. games are televised live...
