By all accounts Jack Mac has gained some mass over the last 12 months, and he can double as a No 8 if needed. Obviously his game would be different to that which Lolo F (My first choice No 8) would bring to the table.
I have a sneaky feeling that Brad W may not be released from the 7's programme for Jnr RWC. Hong Kong and Japan Comps are very close to the Jnr RWC, and Gunn is a gun and will be in my Squad. There will be intense competition for the run on 7 at Jnr RWC.

All the better for Aus Rugby. Would appear we have another huge pool of talented 7's to pick from yet again. Are we able to touch base with NZ and Eng about getting some ex-pat Sth Africans to move out this way and breed these 2.5 meter tall 115kg locks they seem to have a stack of?

Just remember that winning the tournament does not guarantee 28 rep team jerseys in a brown paper bag either.
WA found that out last month, undefeated in winning the SS comp and only getting 5 boys in the Baabaas side.
It's not about how many points the trialling teams score. The selectors will build a side from the players they think can do the best job at the next level.

I agree entirely, however, could one make some sort of an argument considering the Barbarians results at this tournament.
This is not intended to start a fight, and i am not questioning the integrity of the selectors or coaches, just making note. There were plenty of people on here who were "taken back" by the Barbarians selection. Perhaps some selected on reputation rather than performance?
Jack Mac can play and his porking up in the summer did him no harm.
Thing is that Hamish Dunbar kept him out of Colts 1 for a lot of last season until the Grand Final.
You'd think he'd make the team at least for the Oceania tournament camp.
I think they will take only two opensides to Italy, and one will be Brad Wilkin. The other will be between Michael Gunn and Jack Mac - and Gunn may be playing Super Rugby on the weekend.
People may be cracking their knuckles to start typing that one of the three can cover 6 - but the lock/6 situation is much more serious than that of 6/7. That has to be satisfied first with somebody like NK covering 6/lock.
Once that is solved, and I know the solutions as well as most, then the extra 7, if there be such, can be talked about.

I'd be surprised if Jack Mac played 8: his weight increase was that of a skinny, bandy legged kid to a normal U20 type opensider.
Of the players I have seen this year, which is only NSW and ACT live and one video from Adelaide, it's more likely Croke and Kamp will be second 8 and 6 cover and next N. Kellaway as lock/6/8 dogsbody.
Those names can be changed but the bottom line is I don't see a place for a specialist opensider covering anything.
I'm talking about the team for Italy, there will be three opensiders for the first camp.
Mind you - I've been wrong before.
