Apparently no sign or even a rumour of a St Augustines boy at the Shore boat shed - you would think they would have had him there by now to fit him in somewhere

It wasn’t a true tailwind when I was there, it was swinging to the S/SE so was actually a bit tricky when it picked up. Also wasn’t consistent across the day.I've heard that the Joeys eight hasnt rowed together as a full combo since early december due to back to back illness and injuries
Scots and Newington surprising today
Kings had a great race in the u19 eight against scots, rowing them down in the third 500, however still over 6 minutes
Was surprised all times today were not faster considering the immense tailwind.
By the afternoon it was a straight tail, maybe slightly less significant in lanes 1/2, however it was likely fairly tricky to row in.
Seemed to have a bigger influence on the girls, queenwood 6:39..
What were the conditions like at Hen & Chicken this morning?
Have it on good authority a Newington coach rowed in their 4th four today
Heard similar stories about this happening last term. Outrageous if this is correct
Agreed, I have no idea why but there is virtually no GPS competition to follow this season. It’s disappointing as a spectator, I can imagine for the boys who made the big boats it is too.
When is the water ever fine around Putney? A ferry goes through there every 10min these days.
Quite a bizarre rant, I thought we were referring to the fact that there aren't many decent regattas for the GPS crews to enter in Term 1. There are only three mandatory regattas for GPS senior crews in term 1 besides the Head of the River. Who in their right mind would want to compete in the Iron Cove or Hen and Chicken unless it was compulsory.
My point is that weekly regattas are organised for schools to attend and it's against the spirit of the competition to decide not to attend. A "decent regatta" is one in which all lanes are filled and crews commit to competing, not just training. Non-attendance is precisely what makes a regatta less interesting for the spectators. If you find that bizarre, I find it equally bizarre that only three regattas are mandatory. That would never happen in any other school sport. In other sports when you skip a fixture it's called a forfeit.
