2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

Yes they should get over a mil, but like in the past if they get belted its not going to attract back those who have drifted away and new fans.

Bled two down a fair bit.
FTA 320k. Fox TBA

The rating is an average across the whole game, so I'd imagine there were huge numbers at the start of the game, and very few by the end of that flogging.

Cricket is doing very well for nine

Any estimate of the crowd for Brisbane Club Grand final? Usually try and get those numbers in here each year.

@suikocon: Club rugby alive and well in Brisbane. #ballymore #GoUni #UQ

remember the crowd flows through the day. Teams play early that don't hang around. So the crowd may be 8,000 but it's not that full for the GF.

Surely Betoota’s marketing campaign for RA will have boosted viewing numbers this evening. I am actually a really big fan of their ‘marketing pidgeon’ campaign.

Disgraceful.

If anybody (eg RA) would accept a crowd like that, at a brand new stadium, as a RWC lead-off, against a team with a decent local following of their own (minimum 4k were Samoan supporters), in the only home game in Sydney for the entire calendar year, as a decent crowd, then the game is dead in this country as a commercial viability and we should just concentrate on developing players to wear Gold and to head overseas and play in their leagues.

Travelling into the deepest darkest WS is just too much for many.

Doubt the 2011 Samoa game had many more attendees.

I know it is a very long time ago, but I was at the SCG for Michael Cleary's last game as a Wallaby. They played France. The crowd was just under 8k.

We were a niche sport then, we are a niche sport now, in this country. We have had bursts of comparative success, for sure. But at the end of the day we are up against two highly popular indigenous games who have scooped the pool of public attention, sponsorship, media attention, and so on.

Do we give up now? We have never given up before, even when the national colours were worn by the New South Wales team, because there was no serious organised competition elsewhere in the decades after WW1.

Let us just enjoy what we have got.
