Going to be an interesting year especially in regards to Shore given their abysmal 6th at last year's HOTR. Favourites must be Kings and View for 24 though

It’s Riverviews to lose after coming 1st or 2nd in every HOTR race in March. Plenty of depth in their rowing program

Shore have 0 returning rowers from last years 1st VIII and not many from the other GPS crews, while Kings and Riverview had a much better Yr 10 1st VIII - have heard that they are rejigging their program from next season which was already in place midway through this year with training apparently going to be a different, I think podium is a more realistic aim for them next year rather than winning outright but I still fancy them to come 3rd

Riverview have to be strong favourites with a few of their 1st 8 Rowers returning, King's also in a strong position for '24 given the strength of their 1st Junior VIII. Would be hard to see a possibility in which Riverview could not attain a first or a second place in my opinion. As for Shore, rumor has it that they are shaking up the program, will be interesting to see the results it produces come the first Regatta's in October. Early signs however point to View and King's as strong favourites for the Major come March.

Kings in a strong position as 5 rowers from 1st VIII returning next season, and a strong cohort from the seconds and year 10s. Will be mainly a year 12 only crew next season. This age group has dominated since pre covid. View will be main competition.

An interesting question as to whether COVID has put Shore into the place that they are given the dominance of their program beforehand or just strategic errors? It's a bit odd when you see the fall that they have taken given their dominance of the 1st VIII event from c. 2010-2019

Shore ‘24 age group were very strong in juniors/quads but a lot of strong rowers pulled out once they went to 8s. No idea why, question for the shed.

Staying on the topic of Shore, their 1st VIII pulled a 6:13.81, far and away their worst result since records at SIRC began in 1999. The only other time that matches near that number was a 6:21.50 in 2006, but yet again the winner of that race pulled a 6:15.20. Heads have got to be rolling considering a program that was as strong and dominant as theirs.

All school have their periods of dominance across different sports. Shore's day will return, is just a case of focus and intent top down and things happen. But they don't happen quickly in rowing. The numbers View have at the moment will see them dominating for the rest of the decade.

Agree. It seems for now they will have to build from the bottom up.

Interesting insight out of the Kings shed - 7/9 of the 2023 championship 1st Jnr 8 have tried to quit rowing, (the cox is one of the two staying). Though the year 11s already in the senior shed are no doubt well poised for the year to come, this probably hurts HOTR chances for 24 and and the next few years.

Sigh, enjoy your ban muppet.

Really struggle to understand the motivations of some of these posts.
