No you are right, he played no club Rugby and didnt play @ State Champs, only the schools tournament for CCC then NSW 1and obviously WaratahsNot sure of the difference between 'being signed' and being in a squad, but Talakai is also in Souths Harold Matts squad.
I am also pretty sure that Ruthven & Longland played Harold Matts with Manly last year.
I suspect the reality is that barring a very small minority who are either at very traditional & strong rugby school (ie. Joeys) or a tall 2nd rower (whose height makes league less interested in them, but prime AFL candidate) that pretty much all the players are playing both games these days and view the games are interchangeable.
I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that Xuerub's only rugby union during 2025 was playing for CCC, then NSW School 1 and Waratahs.
I'm guessing there are a few availability pressures for 16 year olds at this late stage of the year.Spread the love with a few selections it seems.
Pretty even contest. Was it a Qld U16 v Qld U17 front row? how did that look?
Trouble is that the Qld U17 team wasn’t a proper rep team. It was just put together from names on the perpetual development list that Carozza came up with a few years ago, with a few newbies that particular schools will have pushed forward, and minus those lost to league. The days of Qld having genuine rep sides with the best performing players from school and club games each year are long gone. But at least Qld can say they “developed” the players who played as some sort of false self justification loop - players are picked as they are in the development squad, and they are in the development squad because they were picked.
