Thanks for confirming you see that too Jaggers. I thought I was going insane with the amount of foolishness in that post.

It's a tough one as AIC schools don't have sporting scholarships so if they miss a quality player in a certain position they can't just go find/buy in a player. I'd say this year Marist/Padua would finish mid table with State High or GT. But the everyone else in AIC would finish dead last.Who do we think wins if the best AIC school (Marist/Padua) versus the worst GPS school (Grammar). Personally I reckon it'd be a pretty close game but I think AIC would just get up.

Hey mate, that doesn’t really make sense, you’re saying the AIC comp is “more balanced,” but then claiming only two schools could compete while the rest would finish dead last in GPS. I do agree that Marist and Padua would compete as both teams had some quality players this year (Will Ross, Damon Humphreys, Xavier Howard), however I do recall Padua versing Toowoomba Grammar in a pre season trial game and getting smashed. It's a tough one as AIC schools don't have sporting scholarships so if they miss a quality player in a certain position they can't just go find/buy in a player. The AIC comp is normally a lot more balanced then GPS but the total quality of Rugby is lower also.

Yeah I think that was the Ballymore Cup.If you are talking about this year then it was Marist vs Downlands, not Padua Vs Toowoomba not sure when they last played each other. A few schools played a comp at the start of the year
not sure of the name but it was out at Albany creek, pretty sure IGS took it out. Villa and Iona played and got smashed by IGS.
By more "Normally more balanced" I was talking about not just last year. It always seems the GPS comp is Nudgee, + 1 or 2 others each year where AIC doesn't have 1 team that has dominated of so long. Marist did I guess but they have been mid table until this year for the last little while.
Problem is that no one wants a rugby scholarship to an AIC school. Need the quality of rugby at these schools to improve before good players will be interested in coming there. It's a pointless topic. One comp has scholarships, the other doesn't. Time for AIC to wake up and offer scholarships for rugby etc.
Harlem Faalafi (Padua), Darcy Kerr (Villa), Harry Taylor (Lauries), Mitch Wallis (St Pat's), and Archie Searle (Marist) are a couple of names that I'll be watching very closely next year. Expecting big things from these boys.Oh well, It is what it is.
Back to AIC chat anyone have players any other players to watch? A mate with kids at Marist had big wraps on Stanley Grellman as a 2026 year 11 to watch out for. I haven't seen anything from Nick Tucker (courier mail) yet he normally does a players to watch list at some stage.
He is very good. Played prop for Reds under 15, but was throwing in the lineouts. Lachlan Webster from Marist was also in the side as a number 8. Is very good as well. He will be a unit when he fills out his frame.Oh well, It is what it is.
