I'd heard that Philip Holding was leaving Ashgrove but I'm not sure why or where he's going.

What's David Miles like, and what can we expect him to add to MCA rugby?

He's a past old boy. Has quite an impressive resume as well with 2 AIC Rugby Premierships and 2 AIC Athletic Premierships. He will defiantly be missed at SEC but it is understandable why he's leaving. Lives in Ashgrove and has 2 sons who go to Marist College Ashgrove.

Ashgrove seem to do everything else right in all the teams they have apart from the First XV.

Making a comeback this year in first XV, they looked like they were going to end up 4th or 5th but made a outstanding effort and pushed themselves into a tied 2nd

Don't know why people aren't discussing Iona's top contenders for AIC 1 as well as the team itself.

Iona College First XV 2015 Prediction

1. Dan Sheppard - Played representative rugby for England and First XV 2014. Turning 18 and has a good shot at AIC 1.

2. James Nguyen / Oliver Plevey - 16As 2014

3. Angelo Pepe - Played First XV 2014 and bench First XV 2013. Also a Queensland rep player and has a good shot at AIC 1, if not, definitely AIC 2.

4. Ryley Morton - 16A's 2014

5. Ryan Homes - 16A's 2014

6. Brenton Smith - Run on for First XV 2014, otherwise played 16A's.

7. Hayden Murphy - 16A's 2014.

8. Nassif Ghanem / Nicholas McBride - 16A's 2014

9. Prashant Sahay / Dane Waller - Third XV 2014 and 16A's 2014, respectively.

10. Kyle Cook - Was a standout in the First XV 2014 team after coming on halfway through the season. Also played 16A's. Possible AIC 1 or 2 contender.

11. Patrick Walker / Luke Slack - Third XV 2014 and 16A's 2014, respectively.

12. Tim Albion - 15A's 2014 and reserve First XV player. Will be a massive threat to the comp in the 2016 season.

13. Michael Dickie - First XV 2014 and another 18's player. Due to his size, age, and playing skills will easily be the best Outside Center in the comp. Solid shot at AIC 1.

14. Kyle Kinsella - 16A's 2014 and reserve First XV 2014.

15. William Feeney - 15A's 2014 and will be crucial to the team in the 2016 season.

Given Villa lost 69-0 in 16A, and 49-5 in 15A, to Ashgrove, they'd be looking pretty ordinary if that was their First XV next year.

Wouldn't be surprised to see hit-man Angus Barker also in the mix at 2 or on the flank. He Put shots on all season and is a pretty tough player. Also Moss Mackenzie is a option at 7. Pretty quick on the ball and gets stuff done, goes down injured a bit though. I also believe that Brenton Smith benched for firsts instead of run on. Ryley Morton also sat on a extended bench i believe for firsts also.

Both Nassif Ghanem and Dane Waller are wingers/centers so they could both be options. I think a suitable pick at 9 could be Matt Luck, Kyle Cook or even Kyle Reid as a smokey to make it from the thirds i believe.
Personally i would have Kyle Kinsella in the centers which could allow Cody Ryland to come on the wing.

Keep an eye on this Iona forward pack. They are tough and have plenty of size and with a bit of gym they will be force to be wrecking with in 2015. They have hard ball running props and two tough second rowers with high work rate which will look for a big season next year. Keep in mind Number 8.Zayne Holleran was injured all of this year and his inclusion to the team will be a massive plus as he is one of the best ball carriers in the competition. Wouldnt shock me at all if this team surprises a few people next year.

Villa's 12 and 13 are far too small they will get dominated by the likes of Carter Auld (SEC), Steve Tatipata (SPLC) and Mana Cecil (SPC). Do villa have any more size to protect the middle of the field?
