When I say "rucking" I obviously mean rucking the body. FFS, at least debate in good faith. Do you think I am unaware that something called "rucks" exist in rugby?

The "fatcat" rule is obscene, and unlike Kiwis with their side's infringements, you'll find that all the Aussies on here are calling it out to be stopped.

Apart from that, I'm unclear about what you are actually arguing about, or with whom?

I made two points, if anyone wants to debate them. (1) The ruck laws need an overhaul. (2) The Stellenbosch ELV about hands in the ruck worked really well.
Ok scarfman fair enough, you weren't saying rucking has been banned ( I not sure what rule was changed to prevent rucking as long as it in backward motion). Though I will agree ELV hands in ruck law I liked (as I did collapsing maul)
I obviously missed the thread that all the Aussies are calling for it to be stopped, but it not meant to be an Aussie vs Kiwi thing that you seem to be trying to make it,just making point that the REF is supposedly the sole arbitrator of rules, and if he says it ok, it is not a penalty etc. All teams I coached over the years were always taught this, perhaps I was wrong to do this?
As for the rest it was just saying that all this I got a you tube clip that proves ABs/Wallabies/Boks etc are cheating is crap, the ref is the sole arbitrator. It wasn't aimed at you just everyone that does it, it just there is a lot of arguing about whether McCaw was in way, or it a ruck etc,and I was stating I didn't think anyone in here has shown me their knowledge of rules etc would make me look at a video and say hey he knows more than ref so he must be right, it is what the REF says it is. Mind you it maybe also that I can't be buggered going through endless videos to show everyone a clip where Richie is on/offside or Pocock etc are almost never supporting their weight when attempting turnovers.

What happened to the stone walls guy. It's getting pretty personal and way off topic.

I tried to get this thread onto neutral territory but again it has been dragged back into the mud. In my opinion, because of the Kiwi's infantile reflex action to defend their own players at all costs.

Is there not a rule against that?? It strikes me as the international version of provincialism. Didn't we start this site to avoid Kiwi preciousness? I know I did.

Sully - try to talk about pillars and stonewalls without getting half a dozen Kiwis up your arse defending every ruck that an All Black ever deigned to visit.

Certainly a lot more cocky bravado from supporters this side of the ditch after recent results.

What is that saying again from Winston Churchill.

"When you are winning a war almost everything that happens can be claimed to be right and wise."

My suggestion is this.

Close the thread and start a new one titled "Taking space beyond the ruck". Version 2 if you like.

Let's agree the terms of reference so we can keep the debate narrow enough to actually have, well, a thread with some purpose.

We can use footage from any match or matches.

I am happy to start it but I still have no video so I suppose the first reply will be "where's the proof"?

This was my gripe:
  1. Players on attack (Aussies, Kiwis, Saffers, Mongolians, Malrovians, Guamaronians, Bahamians and Lithuanians) at times storm past the tackle point just before or just as as the ruck is being formed.
  2. These are players who would typically "support" the tackled players but instead they quickly take the space just beyond the soon to be / existing / just formed ruck (yes herein lies part of the problem).
  3. They obstruct the defensive supporting players.
  4. They sometimes confuse the ref as to where the actual advantage line is being formed.
  5. They move the advantage line at the ruck forward, inceasing the chance that defensive players are perceived to enter from the side.
  6. The make counter rucking hard becuase the defensive team has to move them before they can attack the ball. A split second makes a difference.
Anything else?

That was my gripe :)

New thread has a no dickwad policy and takes place in the official GAGR United Nations zone.

PS. Yes I was a management consultant in a previous life. ;)

Blue, I'm pretty sure that the Mongolians got stonewalled too.

Welcome to 2012, Dismal. You give new definition to the term "Go deep". Slow Saturday? :)

You appear to be unaware that @Dismal was not merely deported for crimes against AB-dom (namely predicting disaster v France in a recent RWC QF, actual result, (in case you've forgotten and/ or I just like reminding people) ~500 -nil) but actually sent back in time to reflect upon & atone for his offending. Hence on planet @Dismal it's still 2012 & a repeat RWC is yet but a dream/ ticket back to the three-peat celebrations at his joint in 2019. Shit, I think I may have broken the rule about going back in time & blabbing about the future. Sorry 'bout that.

Pleased to be of service, old bean. Allow me to share some wisdom from the Kirwan:

I should really save my indecencies in control, lest I also end up on Pitcairn looking at 2012 internet with netscape navigator. I imagine Shawn Chrstian would be using the only copy of Encarta 95 as a breadfruit wine coaster.
