Australia A - Back on the Cards

I kinda like the idea of looking at Stewart at 13 to see what he looks like there. Hodge we have seen at 13 (and every other backline position bar 9). Not saying right option to put Stewart at 13 but just curious how he might perform there and given lack of other options/ specialist 13.
I know what can contribute a player like Hodge at 13. I want to see new combos, new players. I know both Foketi and Stewart played most of the season at 12 but I think this combo could work. If you don't have a specialist outside centre you have to develop it.

I don't know if this is the right time or competition to find out. I don't think Hamish has the required size, speed or skill set to be a 13. Hes a solid 12 that can fill in at 10/15. I could be wrong, but I'd rather see how he went in 13 at QPR before trying him out against the Islander boys

So Foketi at 13? This is the perfect scenario to find out. You can't test it in England series, RC or EOYT

I'm not opposed to Stewart or Foketi spending some time at 13 but why do we need to develop more 13s?

We've already got 5 guys who can play there in the wallaby squad - Kerevi, Ikitau, Paisami, Perese and Petaia. With Hodge, Kellaway and even O'Connor capable of covering it and Flook coming up it seems like it's much more important to be developing cover at 12 right now.

Cause Foketi and Stewart need game time and that's the reason to bring back Australia A. To give game time to players who couldn't make test level yet but deserve a chance. You already have plenty of players who can play at 12, for that reason I prefer to see what can do players like Foketi and Steward. Hodge has experience at test level so I don't need to see him playing there

I think theyll go with
9. Lonergan 10. Edmed 11. Daugunu 12. Hodge 13. Foketi 14. Muirhead 15. Campbell

Swap Hodge and Foketi around and I think that's it... they're all players who have featured in the Australian squad over the past year and Edmed is the form 10 of the bunch.

I don't think we need to develop Foketi or anyone else at 13 with so many players in the main squad who can play there - Ikitau, Perese, Kerevi, Paisami, Petaia, Kellaway, Wright.

All the young 10s coming through look good but need more time. We have Noah in the Wallabies and Edmed and Donaldson in the A team. And Pasitoa and Carter Gordon both showed great improvement through the season. The key is giving them all game time.
Donaldson impressed before he got injured. His style has a spark and a smooth flow to it, and this observation has been confirmed by coaches and team mates who describe him as similar to Stephen Larkham in style. I would love to see more of him at 10. Tane Edmed seems so assured and mature in the role, with strong defence (his league background?). His solid style works best behind a strong pack. Pasitoa has a strong running game so he needs to work out when to run and when to pass. There are times Pasitoa looks dynamic with the ball. And Carter Gordon has a sublime pass and long kick. (Will Harrison is injured so I will not list his virtues here).
Next year when all these young guys are competing with Noah and the veterans for the 10 spot we will be in great shape. This year I am not so confident. They all need more game time, even al club level. Who will be the one to step up and really impress?

Just had them that way because Foketi has played more 13 then Hodge and Hodge has played test 12. Wasn't about 'developing'. Considering also the only other 'centre' in the squad is Stewart who is definitely not a 13.

Hugh Sinclair addition interesting. Rewards for solid performances over recent years but does also perhaps highlight lock depth issues. But not taking anything away from hugh who has been solid and consistent (plus improving) performer for the tahs over the last 2 seasons.

Pleased also Tuttle added as had strong back half of the season after looking like he should not be there early in the season

Haven't seen this anywhere else or any detail on who's injured, but rugby.com.au have Isaac Henry joining the squad as an injury replacement:
Henry will be at flyhalf for the opening 40 minutes when the “Bula Dogs” take on Souths at Chipsy Wood Oval in Round 9 of the StoreLocal Hospital Cup.

That might have been all this week had in store but for a surprise phone call which has swept him into the Australia A squad as a late injury replacement for the Pacific Nations Cup in Fiji.

Anyone know who he's replacing?
