Wilson

Phil Kearns (64)
In all seriousness, it could potentially be McReight couldn't it?

Wasn't he above Wilson in the capataincy pecking order prior to injury.
I don't think they'll change from Wilson here, not unless he's dropped, and that seems unlikely. Ala'alatoa's comments recently certainly made it sound like Wilson had retained the captaincy.

We may see a change for the end of year tour though, I think Joe might want to announce a captain for the tour itself and lean into something a bit more permanent. Could absolutely still be Wilson though.

the wet blanket that was Chris Whittake
Ghost, I played with some pretty good half backs and always admired a good one and if Whittaker was a wet blanket who the hell was a dry one in your world?
There was the truck driver from Newcastle who walked away - Steve Merrick, he was a bloody good half back, Nic Farr-Jones the best I've seen here, I liked Genia and wasn't in the country when Catchpole or Hipwell played. Whittaker was fast with an excellent pass. I wasn't a fan of Gregan and thought he slowed our attack down at key times.
Payne - well I struggled to remember him, looked him up and remembered his face but he only had 7 games 3 off the bench.

According to Payto...

Fraser McReight, Hunter Paisami, Lukhan Salakaia-Loto, Noah Lolesio and Tom Wright are all set to come into the side after overcoming injury.

Veteran halfback Nic White, who scored a decisive 10 points from the bench in the last win against the All Blacks in Sydney in 2015, is also poised to start alongside Lolesio. After starting in Santa Fe, Ben Donaldson, Carlo Tizzano and Hamish Stewart will all drop out.

Stocky hooker Brandon Paenga-Amosa is expected to be named on the bench for his first Test match since 2021. Paenga-Amosa featured in 14 Tests for the Wallabies before moving to France in 2021, where he played three seasons for Montpellier. The 28-year-old recently returned and signed with the Western Force for 2025.

Surprised about Paisami as other articles today had him not playing this week...'

It doesn't sound like Whitaker made the cut, again.

Given where you go back to Stillmissit I agree with you. I had the great privilege of playing with Hipwell and rate him number one, although I only saw Catchpole a couple of times and that was at the back end of his career and those who did see him rated him the best of the lot.

White, Lolesio, Paisami….

Joe knows more than I do in coaching at top level rugby…

All I can say is…. I’m EXTREMELY hopeful… but definitely NOT confident.

Go Wallabies!!

Poor Patty T usurped by Darry on the bench.

Flapa fucking Nara. Unbeleiebable. Yay for his 2nd half injection of bug-eyed ref-baiting Byronesque "experience"

Sam Cane. Scott Foster is the anti-depth Rassie. Clearly just trying to get the guy to 100 caps now.

Proctor and Paps not in the XXIII. Next season could be even worse than this one once the Cantab Cartel are forced to biff all these untested blokes in the deep end after Cane/Flappers etc are suddenly not available.

I'm with you Dismal.

It's not like Perenara and Cane are so head-and-shoulders better than Hotham and Papali'i. I hate giving caps away just to get Cane to 100.

I still want to see Ardie at 7 and Sititi at 8. Barrett or Vaa'i can play 6 and make room for Tuipulotu in the 2nd row.

I'm not a fan of Jacobsen and Blackadder seems to be good for 2 games before getting broken.
