You obviously have a huge opinion of the Scots Team, which is fair given their domination down South but spare the Qld boys a fair go, they do have some exciting players coming through. It would be good for a "End of the Season" GPS winners showdown between NSW and Qld.

What impact will the Commonwealth Youth Sevens team commitments and training have on the 2015 Australian Schoolboys selections?

I know NSW divisions are all coming up to their annual trials.
-CHS has already begun the selection process
-GPS Is selected from the first few rounds of the competition
-ISA have trials coming up in May
-CAS im unsure of.
-CCC have a trial match this weekend or next.
Should be another strong year for NSW particularly with this year 12 cohort!!

Looking from a far from north of the border, the Vic team looks as though they have made their selections and some players seen before in JGC. I have heard from a few and reading Facebook (Melbourne Rebels site) that a certain Josh Coward has missed out. How a current Aust. U18 7's squad member is not considered to be good enough....what is going on south of the border. Was a standout in 2013 at National U16 Vic team, then backed up in Jnr Gold Vic U17 in 2014. Maybe another state might want to take up this talented player and trial him for their team as he can play 9, 10 and 15. Reports from the 7's nationals he was on fire there as well.

No doubt would have been an interesting selection discussion around Josh. I did hear he is on crutches/moonboot for the next 4 weeks.

I heard Josh will be back in next two weeks with school rugby! Such a surprise the kid didn't get selected...especially when I know other states like QLD and NSW would want him in their teams.

From 2014 Australian Schoolboys team, the following are believed to still be at school, and under 18, and therefore would be almost automatic selections for 2015, subject to form and fitness.

There was no Australian A (Australian Schools Barbarians) selected last year.

Prop - Gavin LUKA — St Joseph’s Nudgee College QLD 1
Lock - Reece HEWAT — St Joseph’s Nudgee College QLD 1
Halfback - Harrison GODDARD — Oakhill College NSW 1
Wing/Centre - Sepesa L0GA-TAROGI — Newington College NSW 1
Flyhalf - Jack McGREGOR — St Ignatius’ College NSW 2

Derick Slater

Chris McKivat (8)
1. Gavin Luka NUDGEE QLD 1
4. Reece Hewat NUDGEE QLD 1 (captain)
12. Calvin Pritchard NUDGEE QLD 1

These Qld players are all returning with national champs experience and will undoubtedly be in the squad. This year will be Hewats third year in QLD 1 so he will captain coming back from a standout season for Australia last year.

^^^^ @ Derick Slater. Jack McGregor was not initially named but he was an injury call up while the tour was in progress and IIRC he was named in the 23 for the NZ Test in Porirua(#22), but I don't think he took the field apart from for the Anthems.

Pretty sure he did HJ but there's been one or 2 Peronis since then

Lee Grant

John Eales (66)
McGregor was called in after Jackson-Hope was red-carded against NZ Barbarians Schools and couldn't play against NZ.

If I remember correctly he came on the field at the end of the "test match" and played fullback.

Hugh Jarse - can we rely on your excellent writing and knowledge of the Aus Schools' scene to do another preview article of the national championships ??

^^^ It's coming around to that time of the year again isn't it.

I should be able to do another preview for National Champs with help from some interstate snouts.
