Married to Jess Halloran, who often writes articles on rugby… was part of the News Corp hit squad churning out negative articles about rugby during covid when RA were negotiating with Optus/Nine, but has softened the tone in recent years since especially since News divested their Kayo stake, I’d say she is close to neutral now.

No specifics about Stan

Important to note here that Oztam is measuring only content actually watched on TVs with this report.

So watching the rugby on your laptop, or watching YouTube on your iPads or phone won't be included in this data set.

Oztam are owned by the FTA broadcasters so will be wanting that audience share to be as high as possible. It's possible that they wouldn't even sample a household that says they don't watch broadcast TV

OzTAM has spent the past few years adding streaming meters to its 8600-audience measurement panel, which is managed by data firm Nielsen. It is measuring about 5000 homes so far.

would laptops/ipads etc not be captured under the BVOD streaming?

BVOD = Broadcast video on demand, it's only the content that the traditional broadcasters stream on their services

You might know BVOD better as ‘catch up TV’ — platforms where you can watch that last episode of MAFS you missed or catch up on Home and Away if you still haven’t realised that better TV exists.

BVOD channels are extensions of Australia’s traditional broadcasters, including Channels 7, 9 and 10, as well as the ABC and SBS. Each one of our broadcasters has an accompanying streaming service (like 9Now, iView or SBS On Demand), where content is available for free viewing.

Things like Youtube, Stan, Netflix etc isn't included in the BVOD numbers

Just to add to that - there is plans to extend what this report is doing, but at the moment it's only what appears on TV sets

What dimensions are reported?
• Initially focused on all TV sets (connected or not), with all other connected devices (computer, tablet and smartphones) reporting to follow soon.

Used to refer to himself as Rambone on account of his apparent success with the ladies. Class A fuckwit. ( class A being the operative word if you get my drift).
Was actually a rugby player back in his day and for some reason became very, very anti rugby. As in yelled at us watching a Tahs game in the pub ( we were all at a party) 'who cares'',
fucking dopey mungo.
Who'd he play rugby for?

Think Macquarie Uni. Could be wrong though.
Wonder what made him become such a hater of the game. Really odd.
Ah well - he's torched his career.

Foxtel have re-signed their agreement with ESPN for a number of years, keeping that content on Foxtel and Kayo streaming.

Any idea what the difference between the ESPN on Disney+ vs Kayo?

I can imagine for a lot of family house holds, with ESPN being bundled on Disney its an easier sell than Kayo which would only have the NRL + AFL (maybe the F1?).

In terms of content, I don't think there is any difference. Happy to be corrected though.

I have a family household so we have Disney+ and Kayo at the moment. I have been watching some American programs on Disney ESPN because it does seem to have better advertisements (weird thing to care about) but I prefer to have that playing than the braindead 'Your show will resume shortly' screens.
