Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I am guessing that a modest change in the number of TV viewers in Australia isn't close to the top of the list in terms of factors that drive the revenue of the event.
The change of the way we measure TV ratings that came in Jan 24 make not a straight forward comparison but it was the 7th highest rated event nationally in 2022 on that Thursday night yet the 19th highest rated event that day last year when it went head to head with the AFL GF

2024 AFL GF was also Sydney v Brisbane. The two biggest Rugby markets in Aus. Brisbane's a good chance in the AFL this year and I guess GWS but would it have the same impact? Adelaide v Geelong probably shifts a lot of eyes back to the Rugby

The former was the Thursday night prime time game in Melbourne, and the latter was a Saturday afternoon match in Wellington...

How well do Saturday afternoon games in New Zealand rate when they're not competing against AFL and NRL finals?

You just have to find an EPL loving friend or extended family member (or 2) to share an account with. You'll end up paying less than before, even with the increased sub cost and having to move up a tier to allow multiple screens to watch at the same time.
Yep already one came out of the woodwork asking to share log ins

If you're referring to this game kicking off at 5pm NZ time/3pm AEST then I assume they've made a decision to avoid the NRL finals on the Saturday night (and are less worried about losing viewers to the AFL Grand Final).
Their stated reason when I looked it up a while ago is to help ticket sales (they play South Africa at the same stadium 3 weeks prior) though perhaps Sky Sport having the rights to both played a part

Sky are never going to allow a clash between a Warriors playoff & a Bledisloe. AFL they don't gaf about, I think it's on their contractual obligations list.

Not sure how the city helps or hinders it.
Obviously the time slot changes things but so does the clear air

Because one city is on the east coast of Australia, and the other is in New Zealand... reflecting the change of time slots.

Yeah or the difference could be one was head to head with the AFL GF and the other was in clear air

That is also another factor, and there's so many there that the comparison is silly.

But at the end of the day this game is in New Zealand, so they get to prioritise what works best for their interests.
