Does anyone have any insight on Waverley 1st 2nd and 16s this year?
The 2025 Waverley 1st XV looks very strong this year, consisting of multiple Gen Blue players in both the backs and forwards. They could go at it against Barker for the CAS champs this year. Will be very interesting to see who comes on out top.

Any new additions since last year?
I don’t know much about the side, but I believe Cy Preketes will be stepping up at prop from the 16As. He’s a big unit and really dominated at the 16s tournament, so definitely one to watch in the front row. As for other additions, I’m not sure, but their 16As side last year was a strong, physically impressive group so I wouldn’t be surprised if a few more of them got the call up to 1sts.

I believe that Cy played in the 2nds for Wavecole last year, meaning his transition to the 1s should be seamless

Cranbrook’s 1st XV looks considerably different this week. Their main ball carrier, Levi Funa—who’s been extremely dominant through the middle—is apparently out for an extended peroid with a lower leg injury. Cruz Cronan, Taj Aufai-Farani, and Vinnie Tagg are also sidelined with short-term injuries. It’s a devastating injury list for Cranbrook, with some of their strongest players unavailable.

Barker v Waverley sounds like the game to look out for this season. Could this game be the decider for wins the premiership this season? I've got a feeling both teams will go undefeated against all other sides. Scrum on!

Enough Cranbook glaze young man. I understand your heroes are injured but this is the CAS forum, not the Cranbrook forum - if your looking for that, just check out Four Corners.

On another note, this is the URL for Barker Shore tonight: https://nswrugbytv.com.au/
I think this is a pretty cool opportunity for both schools.

As always.
Here's an overview on the 2 games I have seen by the Waves so far v Shore and Joeys.
Shore were undermanned and the score reflected that, the Waves front row is strong.
It is not a particularly big side, other than the front row, compared to prior years.
The pack is a mix of strength and versatility.

They did beat the very powerful NZ South Island school champs, which was no mean feat, and won the other game quite well.

This week there are 5 1sts missing v Scots including 1 front rower, the hooker, a 2nd rower and 2 backs.

The backs have talent but were disjointed last week and should have made the final pass several times, thus the bombed tires.
I thought they could have won the game, but Joeys as always never gave up and took their chances.
Both sides had key players out.

Early days but there are a few stars in this team, and you would think as usual, the comp will be fought out between the 3 usual suspects.

Barker will clearly be very strong with the majority of last years forward pack back, along with several key backs.
I suspect they will dust up Shore.
Knox appear by all reports to also be very strong, interestingly this year Barker play Knox early on, and the Waves play them both at the end, so much should be known as the end approaches.

Great player, deserves the shot this week. See if he can stand his ground this game as he has been strong in the 2ndXV. Big frame and great scrummer, Keen too see how he goes

I do 100% agree with this, although I've heard Joeys were carrying a few injuries (I'm not saying this makes all the difference), as well as multiple chances to put more points on the board. It seemed Joeys couldn't quite execute the dominant win they were expecting.

Nonetheless, Trinity is a very strong side this year and have some amazing outside backs to look out for as well as a talented number 8. They played a very fast and aggressive attacking game which could easily blow over any CAS team with the right execution, however, it seemed Joeys just held that defensive edge throughout the game, which saved Trinity from putting more points up.

I think if the match was played again it could go anyway with both sides promising very talented teams this year. Excited to see how they go in their comps this year.

Trinity do have an excellent u15A team but they won't blow over Waverley. These are the 2 standout teams in this age group.

The Waverley Vs Trinity U15A could potentially be one of the highlights of the year across all CAS games as both teams see this as their GF - whoever wins this will go undefeated in that age group. I believe this game will be played at Queens Park Saturday week.

To give this context, last year Trinity deservedly beat Waverley to take out the title - first defeat for this Waverley team in 3 years. Both teams have been preparing during the preseason with this game solely in mind.

Speaking from the Waverley team, they easily ran through Shore winning something like 48-0 and disposed of Oakhill 15A's 66-0 last Saturday. They play Scots this week and it should be a similar result.

The beauty about this age group at Waverley is the depth, the B's side would also alot of A's sides in this age group (I believe they play St Pats A's this Saturday) - they have been undefeated for 2 years and will more than likely do the same. Over the last 2 years there has been musical chairs between the 2 teams - very competitive.

The player I'd keep my eye out in the Waverley A's is their #9 and Captain - Riley Carr.
