Rugby never used to play on ANZAC Day out of respect. Maybe I'm just showing my age taking that for granted. How sad.
.

For as long as I remember - over 50 years - The Anzac tradition has been to commemorate in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon by way of Two Up, sport or whatever. It's not new and certainly not sad. MTB are wearing a commemorative jersey for our Anzac Day clash with the Pirates at Concord.

Couldn't think of anything more fitting of a Anzac Day than doing a memorial service in the morning followed by some beers and watching/playing footy. Could imagine a lot of those men would have called that a bloody good day and a fitting way to remember them

Although if you play a full round of club rugby, the lower grades start about 10.30am.

In the past when clubs have played on ANZAC day, they've only played the 1st grade match which is a 3pm kick-off (which I don't have a problem with).

What time are the lower grades kicking off?

Because of 7Two's fucking scheduling I recorded the GGs yesterday and missed the rugby today.

Strange decision by 7TWO to cover the Uni v Norths game this week with two other games involving top 6 teams playing each other ie Eastwood v Rats, Manly v Wicks.

The commentators (at the end of last week's coverage) were suggesting the Uni v Norths game could decide which of the two teams made the playoffs (surely Uni will win by heaps). Hard to understand given they already had the results of the games to show that the top 6 was decided.

I know they tell the clubs a few weeks beforehand which games they are going to televise but it still seems an odd choice.

There must be a bit of a roster @The Coach.

Last weekend, I'd have preferred coverage of The Corporation vs Rats at Rat park rather than Woodies vs the Gallopers, and agree with you that Woodies vs Rats is probably a more logical game to televise this week over the Corporation vs Shoremen.

That would have meant that the Rats would have had back to back games televised from Rat Park.

I can't grumble too much because the coverage has been first class, given their budget, and it is getting better week by week.

Big question: Will they televise all the Semi-finals and 2 of the 3 quarter finals?

Edit: Big question partly answered. The Foxtel online guide shows Live Shute Shield Rugby at 3pm on Saturday and Sunday next week (1&2 August). Assume that both Semi Finals will be shown live the following week (8/9 August). The online guide only goes out to Friday 7 August ATM.

I'm puzzled again as to why 7TWO would show Manly v Wicks next Saturday instead of Eastwood v Warringah given the outcome of the same two matchups today.

Highly likely that Manly will smash the Wicks again :( and Eastwood v Rats will be another nail biter. Weird!

I'd suggest the 7TWO commentary team were the only people in Sydney who thought Uni v Norths was going to be a close game today also.
