Main takeaways for those who don't feel like listening are the following:

1. Joseph comes across as a really good bloke.

2. For all the chatter from the league continent about rugby poaching a product they developed, he probably could have been a legitimate professional in multiple different sports. Played 1st 5 basketball in year 7, had a lot of success at high jump in athletics, and seems to be a hard worker.

3. He seems to be passionate about rugby, but I wouldn't be surprised if he went to France, Japan, or back to league after the World Cup. Doing 7s the next olympic cycle wouldn't shock me either. He talked quite a bit about wanting to do everything in life.

Playing that grade of basketball in yr 7 is astonishing. Just from a mental approach of being 12 or 13 against some boys who are 18. I know when I was that age a kid in year 12 looked like a man to you.

To be completely fair, I attended a GPS school in the last decade and it was pretty commonplace for the 1sts basketball of each school to have at least one Year 8 or Year 9 kid in there.

Year 7 is definitely young, but it's not as impressive as his rugby feats.

I know it's a small pool in that sport and not as elite as the Rugby but it's bizarre to even get a look in at that age. Shows what a freak he was/is.

I briefly mentioned this in the match thread, but man, JAS really needs to get the 'loig' out of his tackling. In his 15-odd minutes, I think he made 3 tackles and a clean out - of those, he had a direct shoulder (dangerously close to the head) with no wrap, a tackle around the neck, and another tackle that also looked quite high.

I love that he's bringing some enthusiasm and explosive defence, but the technique needs a lot of work. He seems to try a bit too hard at times to make a big shot, and I worry it'll be a bit of a liability in games to come - he doesn't exactly have the cleanest history in the NRL.

I completely get it but I also don't mind it to a point.

It'll work out of his game in time but a little bit of C*&t around the field isn't a bad thing. Having opposition need to know where some guys are on the field is a good thing if they aren't 100% focused on their job.
