I do struggle with the concept of players having no development in the club system and then being "transformed" into S15 players by magic
Guys like Ben Alexander, Nic White, McCabe, Andrew Smith & Sam Carter et al were all good players in Sydney club before they were "discovered"

I agree, they're players with club experience but not pro players or even close... no magic just hard work by teh player and coaches... the super franchises make the real impact... for a lot of guys it takes a season of develop at a super club before thye get their first Super rugby cap...

Don’t blur the discussion line. we’re not talking state of origin here… the original comment wasn't about first grade club games or school boy rep and which state they played them in. it was about the Reds and Tahs doing all the scouting and training for talent. thats the disney show I refer to. My position is the other super franchises develop plenty of their own talent and they do. These guys come from many back grounds. Read Scotty's original statement below. there is no transfer process fee in super rugby.

Ok, this is going nowhere. We will never agree on the 'development' and at what point this has actually occurred. Obviously my view is that if you are good enough to get into an EPS or full squad you have been developed. You see it differently and i can at least now see you're argument, and yes, a lot of work is still to be done.?

I have no issue with blokes chasing opportunity elsewhere and don't believe the Reds or Tahs need compensation for developing them. It's part of the game.

The key thing the franchise do is to get them properly fit and the strong core needed to meet the rigors of Super rugby. (ie pros) note Uni players are ready earlier due to their club program.

The Brumbies didn't teach Faainga to tackle and make Alexander mobile front rower or make Nic White a great 9. They were all these thing before they got there.

The only real development player in a S15 franchise I can think of at the moment is Dale Stevenson at the Rebels

Club players are often managed not developed... many local club players have poor technique... physically poorly developed for their position, poor in defense and in their specialist skill sareas... this is were the new to super rugby players really develop at franchises if they have good coaches...

Added to this Uni's domination of Sydney club rugby player market just shuts down fresh points of view in developing skills and alternative techniques or game strategy… the fact is Uni aim to win tier 3 level or lower comps… we end up with Flyhalves who look to kick first, fullbacks that can’t catch, props and locks who cant scrummage… scrum-halves that can’t pass quickly on both sides…

When all these players are being coached by a few they all do the same thing, this makes Australian rugby very predictable and it takes some time for the super coaches to train these learnings out of their young players so they can grown.

We end up with a lot of players who play the same style of rugby and in the end it holds back Australian rugby... (wow... how’s that for a big statement)...
