League Targets

He might play the last game v Souths if they win this week and other results go their way to get a top 2 finish. Rest a couple of starters before the finals and not risk an injury.

I actually want to see how he goes when a side kick to him on every end of set to make him run it back. That's where the good Wingers earn the money.

Academic exercise, if they open up eligibility overseas, would they ever open up eligibility to league players?

Players have gone back and forth between sevens and 15s, arguably a similar level of difference for some positions between league/union. Is it even possible? Could we see a player like League's Dupont, Cleary let's say, take a sabbatical to play the world cup as Dupont did for the olympics?

I'd hope, at the very least, that Cleary spends at least a season playing union (Japan Top League if necessary) before he's considered for the Wallabies, can't see how he'd make the transition to a completely different, and very technical sport otherwise. It'd be wingers / those who have played both who'd make the transition imo, someone like Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow would be ideal.

Entirely aside from whether or not RA would consider it, I'd be amazed if the NRL would ever allow contracted players to turn out for the Wallabies.

More likely the NRL would let players parachute in for the Olympics than the RWC. &s Rugby aint going to steal junior regos from them but the Wallabies winning a RWC could. Love to see Tabuai-Fiddow, Khan-Peraira, Walsh on a 7s field.

I like these thoughts. Clearly would be amazing but we would also need to give him weapons to feed. League Halfbacks are great but like an NFL QB they need tools otherwise it's a wasted asset. I think we would get more bang for our buck in keeping a steady 10 we have and surrounding them with guys like Angus Crichton at 12, Cam Munster 12 or Stephen Crichton at 13.

League and Union are both on channel 9, they can help themselves. Union could finally bring the legitimate angle to League that they need. I know this is absolute pie in the sky stuff but it keeps a man from going crazy seeing how much talent they have.

Should we suggest the Kangaroos play the Lions as a soften up game for the Wallabies. Give them a couple Front Rowers so they can Scrum and then let just let them fly into them prior to the first Test.

Ch9 would be all over it.

Have you ever seen a group of mungos try and maul and organise a lineout. Sorry mate - rugby is more than flashy backs and a couple of meatheads doing hitups...

Don't expect them to win. Just mame a couple of them
now THAT is an excellent idea. The thought of their gobby fans fills me with unnatural anger.

BIL Fan - We are a team made up of 4 countries and we are going to beat you...
Wallaby Fan - um yes you probably will. How insightful.
BIL fan - yeah suck on that.
Wallaby fan - umm ok.

Nawaqanitawase will debut in NRL this weekend against the Rabbitohs. Might have to watch the game.
Very cool for him to debut in the biggest rivalry game even though it is a dead rubber setting. Roosters been crippled with injury last week and Souths are out of it. They'll get up for it and Roosters won't want to go into the finals off 2 losses.

He'll get plenty of touches. Hopefully he goes looking for work but Souths will kick to him over and over as well as test his decision making in Defence. Probably things the Roosters want to see anyway.

It’s at the stage now where the commentary team have almost been told to pump him up.

Wouldn’t be surprised to hear them overtly rip into RA for losing him.

Gus would. These guys may have a bit more tact.

Chooks have a a filthy amount of former rugby (at one stage) talent. Marky, Sua'ali'i, Chrichton, Watson, Keary, Wong, Steep,

Yeah won’t judge him solely off that one.

Leaguies absolutely nail those situations every time it’s offered. Drilled into them at every level.
