We say we have no money well the Rugby Australia future fund is now up to 25 million and getting 15 - 17% a year in returns. How much is being invested in High Performance I am not sure but this would be alleviating some of the costs.
Maybe I didn't type it correctly that is the future fund and then there is the Australian Rugby Foundation separate to that not sure how much that generates a year at this stage it obviously fluctuates as well. I think this is actually all spent directly on the game.

Australian Rugby Foundation manage the Future Fund(which is around $25million now), that fund which was established about 12 months ago inviting investors in, the fund offers to waive fund managers fees and in return 1% of gross fund assets will be invested back in Australia Rugby High Performance each year, investors can stipulate which part they were invested. Besides the $1% grant none of of this is RA‘s money). Australia Rugby Foundation separately facilitates grants and donations from the public which totalled around $1million in previous years.

Seperate to this, Rugby Australia & Phil Waugh have discussed establishing their own ’future fund’ using the profits from the B&I Lions series and forecast RWC profits. This has yet to be established but reportedly it’ll follow a similar structure to the AOC future fund established following 2000 Olympics, which sees a % of gross funds reinvested back into athletes each year.

Once you register with a union you do not just lose registration because you don't register with a club. Moving to another union requires clearance from the current union.
Are you reading what you are writing?

You can't have continuous 60 months of registration, if you aren't registered with a club and RA each year

You don't lose your residency, but that's a different criteria, which as you say he has

Yes I am actually Katoa would be registered by RA as a union now as he hasn't been transferred to another union. They don't just remove his registration because he plays rugby league.

Have seen it before with Fijian's who don't transfer union they stayed registered to the Fijian Rugby Union. Same with Kiwis and UK guys.

How did Marika qualify for Wallabies?
Residency - he was playing league and back in those days i think it was only a 3 year residency rule as he hadn't played rugby union at any level for Fiji (he played U19s for Fiji in league) and then moved to Oz and played NRL for 4 or 5 years.

That was in the era of when they needed to reside in Australia for three years they just changed this last year from August I think it was 2024 to 60 months straight registration with club OR union.

This or 10 years cumulative residency. I think it was becoming too much paperwork to prove when people were entering countries instead of relying on world rugby data which is collated through these transfer/clearance requests.

Someone like Joey Manu would be close to being Australian qualified and a few others who moved here when teenagers from the islands. Depends if they went straight into league or did school here at a rugby school as well.

The rules have changed now.

It used to be 3 years of residency, now it's 60 months of continuous registration with a union, or 10 years of cumulative residency.

For RA, there is no difference between club or union. It's the same process. You need to register each year
