Err...Sione is a proud Southern Pirates man. Wish I could claim him as Quins man.

I have no doubt that all efforts will be made to get him down to Frankston and to St Kevins for some promo and training work. Sione very generous with his time with the school.

i sadly think we get pumped but think the aussie zeitgeist will be occupied with rugby for the first time since the Melbourne bledisloe controversy (no nrl and afl to watch on that thursday night) which am super pumped about. the vids of watching the squad announcement with club teammates incredible.

Yep a team made up of players from 4 countries will probably beat us. I think we need to remind our soap dodging chums of this fact to counter the pre-tour cockiness that I'm starting to see emerge...

Agreed - A fun thought experiment is who from the Australian Squad would make the Lions squad - McReight, Valetini.......probably Bell

I think there'd be a fair few in there - Ikitau, Wright, JAS, AAA, Bell, Frost, Wilson, Valetini, McReight would all make a 40 man squad.

I think as usual our peak is good its the depth options where we fall away dramatically.

I still think - rightly or wrongly - Tupou makes it too
100% - I think Tupou in Europe would probably do a Skelton. We clearly have a pretty average/poor professional environment for conditioning these blokes. See also JOCs comments with regard to the Crusaders.

Tate makes just about every team in the world as the bench half off last year's form (which he has built on in super this year). Say what you will about him as a starter, there's no 9 more capable of transforming the game from the bench.
You didn't specify transforming a game from the bench for the better

He's not above Gibson Park or Mitchell,

Man... I'm definitely very late to the party here, but there's so much to be excited about with this tour. 9 games on home soil over the space of 5 weeks is going to be so fun. I definitely want to hear more about who they're going to roll out for the AUNZ XV, next to no confirmed news on that as of yet - but that game at Adelaide Oval would be an absolute belter to get to as a chance to see some massive names do it at the highest level again at a really cool historic sports ground. Also, keen to see what the jersey looks like for that clash, I wonder if they pay homage to the 1989 team with the design.

The Saturday-Wednesday splits of the Super franchise games is going to make for great TV also, something to look forward to mid-week is unreal from a rugby perspective.

Maybe it's just me but the build-up and excitement is so palpable, I really do hope this is the injection Aus rugby needs.

It's going to be so good.

I'll be at the Adelaide exhibition game, the Melbourne tour match and the MCG test. Can't wait.
Good on ya Tex. I was living in Aus last time they toured NZ, myself and Aussie mate flew over here for 2 of the games, was worth every cent we paid for them. Lions games are even greater live, there fans are brilliant to mix with!
