Lions Tour 2025

Posted in July internationals, guess could go here: Arg vs Lions has been a good game in the first half. Arg look like they are playing in fast forward. Both backlines looking dangerous in attack. Lions backline havent worked out their defensive system yet. Lions loosies are quiiiick getting on the ball in the ruck and their scrum is strong!

I wouldn't say poor. They have clearly had issues with cohesion, lineouts, defense etc which will only get better.

Argies snagged a few tries off counter attack.

I actually think the Lions look very threatening. Their halfback has a great long pass, they can play so wide off him
A lot of second stringers in there too. No way Marcus Smith is 15 and I doubt Fin will be starting 10. No JDVF. Expect they will revert to Aki/Ringrose too.

Lions looked very dangerous in moments. Given this is their first game together they’ll iron out the offload and lineout errors.

Not gonna lie I’m pretty worried now.

Andy Farrell picked four +100 backs to face the Pumas today: Bundee Aki (105 kg), Tuipulotu (105 kg), van der Merwe (106 kg), Freeman (103 kg) and Joe didn't call Koro and Kerevi???

Them deciding it's too hard to work Tuipuloto into to the starting 15 would be a pretty big win for us. I'd have him as their best centre and I don't think there will be anyone more up for these games on their side of things. Also makes it harder to work Russel into 10 - he really needs a couple of guys who understand him outside of him to grease the wheels same as Quade did in his prime

Still think they'll experiment with it more though, the Irish pair don't really need time together so they can pull the rip cord much closer to the first test if it's not working.

The Pumas had a few second stringers as well with a number of them tied up in the top 14 final.

Just need to rattle Finn Russell and the Lions won't fire a shot!!

Classic Doleman missing a knock on over the line 2 metres in front of him with nothing obstructing his view. You could see him process the thought that it was a knock on and then award it anyway.

Referee depth at the top level is dire if he's getting a game of this magnitude. I had really hoped he would have been down their internal rankings of refs after some of the performances this Super season.

Argies were excellent! Clearly the better side. ‘Maroons’ 14 was their best. Very elusive. Yes. The Lions traditional red jersey replaced with a very darker shade. Looks terrible.

They benefited from numerous blatant forward passes and a dodgy penalty try. Argies were by far the better side. Gee they play an exciting brand of rugby.
