You'd have to assume the NRL have good legal team - but from an employer/employee perspective I wonder if this kind of thing would fly in other industries.

They're threatening a 10-year ban for players who even verbally commit to r360.

Yeah this wouldn't hold up in court, it's just that they now put the responsibility to fight it with the players and the agents. The whole Super League war had a similar judicial court ruling: https://www.australiancompetitionlaw.org/cases/superleague.html

I just don't see a world where they ban someone like Papenhausen. If he's already entertaining a code switch then your just handing him to rugby, whether it's here or overseas. Good headline for the fan base during the final day of the AFL trade period with the Swans active on a big name though.

it just promotes taking talks underground through 4th parties ie agents of agents or their mates acting as intermediaries.

Wasn't Vlandy's dismissing R360 as a nothing concept just last week. Seems like a pretty extreme step to take if he see's no threat.
Classic the enemy is weak but strong at the same time.

He did it with the AFL as well, calls them irrelevant and tiny but then celebrates like it’s the second coming when the NRL out rates the AFL

jeez the mungos are frothing about this on the various chat sites.
Personally I think it wont get up but thats me.
I guess its a shame we'll miss the big game that will be Lisbon vs Miami...

It’s clearly a shock and awe tactic from the NRL.

They are hoping this high level threat will dissuade enough players from the competition that it doesn’t even get off the ground.
