They'll be a few middle tier players hoping a couple big names go because then it's done. Other NRL sides will want them when they become available again just like SBW.

A few articles today insinuating the club bosses have been blindsided by the note in the NRL statement that the NRL can wind back their bans as they see fit.

Specifically calling out examples where big names like Haas (and SBW a previous example) get special treatment if they're returning to one of the more successful and high profile teams.

The NRL certainly are flying by the seat of their pants here, much like everyone else.

R360 respond to the NRL.

Rugby League Player Assocation boss concedes the NRL stance isn't great and would likely be challenged in court.

Sorry - the link is broken because of the auto-correct rules on the forum.

If any player who is a current SOO rep was in R360 and it folded you bet they would be back in the NRL within 18 months.

Imagine Payne Haas took a 2-3m deal but it all ended and suddenly he's playing RL for Hull KR or in French Rugby and saying he wants to be in the NRL. You either let him back or the NRL administration will be out the door within 12 months due to pressure from Clubs, Ch9 and Fox.

Could be good for Rugby if R360 only lasts a year they could be back in Super ...

Yeh - I think anyone who is death riding r360 in the hopes that a collapse would result in SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) suddenly becoming flush with superstars is going to be disappointed.

If we had $1M to pay every top level footy player in Australia to run out for a super team, r360 probably wouldn’t even exist.

Haas would make more for Huddersfield or line up at 12 for Toulon before we see them locally.

I dare say RA wouldn't want to go and sign NRL stars from R360 immediately if the NRL has banned them. I don't care about occasionally poking them but if they genuinely wanted to hurt Rugby they could. Rugby still sits as a guest at places like Ch9 and isn't the main sport on their streaming platform either with Soccer on board.

you know the salary cap in the Super league is 2 million quid. They simply dont have any money for big offers to aussies. If the AUD collapses against the pound which is highly unlikely anytime soon, then that may help, but as the value of their TV rights continues to shrink, I can't see it being an option for aussies apart from fringe journeymen and has beens.

I'm being facetious toward the notion that guys like Haas would suddenly be playing in a comp here in a sport he's shown no interest in besides his agent mentioning it every 18 months for another 150k upgrade

fair enough an agreed. Rugby ( well Australian rugby) needs to publicly deny any mungo who's agent says they are talking with. the wage inflation is getting out of control.
I read in the SMH that the Roosters are after Jorgo. For Fuck sake does that club actually develop any talent whatsoever??

If you look at the Roosters squad they have brought through most of their squad from internal sides. It's a bit of a misnomer they just recruit current pros. The Jorgo chat is unsurprising. They were chasing him in HS when Rugby signed him and tbh it's because of Mark and JAS. There would be other teams as well but the Roosters get clicks as opposed to the Titans.

Reading that article is actually pretty good reading for Rugby and them being proactive. RA offering Jorgo a 5 year deal which would be on a better deal than his current 525k a year.

It would really surprise me if any NRL side were willing to offer 600k+ on a guy they won't know if it'll work out of not.

Yes it's a lot of money, but can't hate locking up guys who are clearly extremely talented. Could see him through the next two WCs

Yep - I know his dad is dead keen for him not to play in the NRL. ( well he was in the lead up until his first RA contract).
