The problem with 'the vibe' approach is when it gets to crunch time and the referee has to make a big decision they won't make the 'right call' and a lot of people will be up in arms about it.
I think the only way to really deal with the scrum stoppages is to stop the clock until the ball comes out, but 'the vibe' is a good start.
