Stuff has them as distantly related.

Bill McCaw was distantly related to the more recent All Black with the same surname - Richie McCaw.

Richie McCaw took Bill McCaw and his family for a helicopter ride and picnic in the mountains in August 2017 to celebrate Bill’s 90th birthday.

Fricken McCaws flying all over the place.

Then there's this in Aunty Hurld:

"McCaw said he's often asked if he is related to a certain Richie McCaw. “I tell people look, I'm not related to Richie, but I was the first McCaw All Black,” he said."

Maybe he was being facetious but if they were related I'm fairly sure someone would've brought it up during McGOAT's career.

NZR lost $19.5Mn last year, mostly due to start-up costs for their streaming service & ForEx losses (edit) & despite record revenue of $285 Mn.

Still plenty of cash reserves but obviously something(s) has to change.

They seem happy about streaming service, with over a billion hits, and a quarter from US and UK, the sponsors like it.
Also interested to read with settlement from Ineos combined with Toyota's new deal , they have ended up with more money than the Ineos deal, and still got shorts on playing gear to sell sponsorship on.
Other news was they got $174 million in bank in reserve.
Also seem pretty keen on keeping NPC going, which is probably major concern for me.
Seems 50,000 tickets already sold for Chicago test against Irish.

Given the provinces insistence of paying 14 "professional" organisations to play matches in front of 12 people and a grouchy dog from Gore, idk what more there is to do but to sit around wait until they collapse one-by-one while NZR refuses to bail out the blazer brigades.
