Notes from the Top 14's round 2 (specifically from Le Midi Olympique):
- Reece Hewat was a standout for Pau in their win.
- Staniforth was also a standout for Castres after a 15 month injury layoff. Apparently back to his best for them.
- Joe Powell was diabolical for Montauban in their loss. Long season ahead.
- Unremarkable: Douglas, Banks, Vunivalu, Maddocks
- Injured: Uelese, Hodge, Leota, McIntyre, Petaia, Swinton, Coleman, Simone.

Good to know that our injury plague isn't any worse than overseas.

Damn, such a severe case of can'tbefuckedplayeingyet-itis. Hope he recovers quick!
I believe it's the payformyrehabyoufrenchiecuck flu. Doctor's are expecting it'll eventually turn into a terminal case of fuckingoffbacktotheredsforgood, but you can live a very comfortable life back in Australia with this.

Notes from the Top 14's round 4 (specifically from Le Midi Olympique):

- Banks was outstanding for Montpellier in their rout of Champions Toulouse. With this write up:
"We were told that the Australian was quick, very quick, but we didn't think that quick. Despite his 31 years, the ex-Wallaby has legs of fire as his first half try attested. Confident under the high ball and explosive off the mark, Banks could be the revelation of Montpellier's season".
- Staniforth again got plaudits, led the comp for tackles this weekend. Apparently back to his best.
- Powell has been banished from the starting team, as has seemingly Maddocks.
- Injured: Uelese, Hodge, Leota (though apparently will be back this weekend), McIntyre, Swinton, Coleman, Simone.

Pending how Jorgenson goes on Saturday and Kellaway's health, might be worth getting in touch with Banks for the Northern Hemisphere games.
Would also love to see Maddocks back in Aus, feel like he has a bit to offer. Could be a good get for the Force or Reds.

Reece Hodge would have to be a chance to come back to the Waratahs in 2027 you would think the way his injuries are going. Maybe even earlier how long is he out for?

Notes from the Top 14's round 6 (specifically from Le Midi Olympique):

- Banks 6/10 and Uelese 7/10 in his return from injury in their big win against a Skelton-less La Rochelle. Funnily enough Vunivalu was the highest rated out of all the La Rochelle team (6.5/10). Kane Douglas went off injured early in 1st half.
- Newsome, Simmons unremarkable in their huge win against Montauban. Powell back in the starting side for Montauban in time to lose by 80 points.
- Big boy Rob Leota is back from injury and started at 8 in their huge upset win against Toulouse, 40 - 26. He outplayed his opposite, French #8 Alexandre Roumat (never really rated him though).
- Injured: Maddocks, McIntyre, Swinton, Coleman, Simone.

You can only imagine Kiss is bringing some of these blokes in for the northern hemisphere tour right?

- Skelton yes. You'd imagine Bell, Ikitau, T. Hooper are all playing too.
- Folau Fainga'a should be back in Aus already, but don't think needed at the moment.
- You'd think one of T. Hooper/Gleeson/Leota/Swinton will be picked (probably incumbents Hooper & Gleeson). That's a lot of Gold backrowers to be unavailable.
- Maybe, maybe Banks with Wright injured and Kellaway patchy.
- I'd love to see Perese get a shot, he's been going well in a real position without much depth for us. Assuming Ikitau is picked too.
- Everyone else I doubt it.

The Japan and France games are both out of the international window - so unlikly those OS guys will be able to play.

Might be quite a big squad!

Notes from the Top 14's round 7 (specifically from Le Midi Olympique):

- Newsome was given 1 point (3/2/1) for his performance for Clermont against Toulon.
"The former fullback has rediscovered his first love at center. Starting at number 13 for the second time in a row, the Australian showed that his legs are better used in the heart of the game than in the backfield. Scoring a brace, including a try scored after a clever dummy, Alex Newsome proved attractive alongside the bulldozer Léon Darricarrère. Their complementary partnership could continue with such performances!"

- Rob Simmons also got a 7/10 for that game, still going strong.

- Staniforth copped an orange card (their 20 minute red) for a head shot in his team's win over Mountauban. Continuing the tradition of locks decapitating players.

- Joe Powell has earned his 2nd dishonourable mention from I think 3 starts? 3.5/10:
"Like his team, Joe suffered less from a lack of physicality, more a lack of skills. While he couldn't do much, he was overtaken by Durand on his way to the try line (24th). Then, he made a bad pass to Bué, which caused a knock-on (31st), and royally screwed his tackle on Goodhue's break, which led to the fourth try (32nd). To top it all off, his isolated run (37th) resulted in Montauban's seventh knock-on in the first half."

- Banks got a 4/10 then was pulled at the 54th minute for Montpellier.

- Vunivalu also got a 4/10 for La Rochelle losing by 2 points to Stade Francais.

- Rob Leota after playing well last week also copped a dishonourable mention playing for Bayonne in their big loss to Pau (47-24):
"A little less than a week after his great start against Toulouse, the Australian has not had the same impact on this meeting. Rarely seen with ball in hand, also rarely made metres and commited two knockons".

- Reece Hewat - got a nice 7/10 playing agaisnt Rob Leota (though they call him Peter Hewat).

- Jack Maddocks - also had a rare start at fullback for Pau against Bayonne and was rated 7/10.

- Injured: McIntyre, Swinton, Coleman, Simone.

For UK rugby, doesn't seem like many Aussies in play just yet. No Sio sighted for Exeter. Ikitau might be next week. No Perese for Tigers and only Kemeny off the bench for Saints. Tom Hooper will arrive in the next couple weeks for Exeter. Not sure why different arrival from Ikitau.
