NSW AAGPS 2025 (banter and commentary)

Hope he makes A's footy sooner or later. How lucky is the little bloke to play footy with his father on a long weekend. Footy never takes a break mate (unless you're watching film and recovering like little Arthur!!!!!)

Been gone for a while. Feels great to be back!

What a weekend of footy Rd 3 was. I was out at the Kings v Joeys games. One of the best games i've seen the Kings group play. Their pack was unstoppable, and provided too much field position through the middle. Isaac Fonua. What a player! The footwork he possesses combined with the sheer power in contact is very rare. Great job to get the win in front of a hostile Joeys crowd.

Additionally, I think amused is what I felt when seeing Charlie Ghattas flicking the ball to himself after catching it of a kick. You'd think a player of his calibre isn't to show any signs of cockiness when playing. Maybe a silent rebuttal to the way Joeys coach their boys.

On Thursday, I'll be out at Bellevue Hill to watch their game against Joeys, and I can't contain my excitement. Scots, who have been somewhat unlucky with injuries, haven't earned the solid start they were hoping for, and come off a very ordinary loss against a strong Riverview squad.

Joeys in a similar boat, walking away from a close loss to Kings as touched on above, will be very hungry and I expect them to come out firing with the support of many of their boys going.

This game should be an absolute cracker, and I specifically look forward to seeing how the Scots forward pack led by no. 3 Angus Mckenzie - who I've had a close eye on this year - engage in the battle with a hungry Joeys pack.

I'd love to hear any opinions and thoughts.

That's it from TRD.

Surprised at the naysayers towards Joeys. Two close losses does not a season make. Kings were obviously up for it after a sub optimal showing against View. Kings did play well with their tight game strategy and the difference is Joeys let them, whereas View met them. A couple of the Kings tries against Joeys were soft (line out, tap in front of posts) and they must have switched off which you cannot do at this level.
Kings still desperately need Risati back to offer any threat out wide which will totally change the shape of Kings game plan and offer options which do not exist at present. His return is not looking likely unfortunately.
Kings have the best forward pack to threaten View and won't mind a heavy track. Hopefully Sawyer back to help with the kicking game. Kings got in the trials but weren't convincing. A lot depends on the starting 8 with limited depth in II's (noting Joeys hiding - was a great game to watch but a pretty average Kings team).

Any new injuries from last weeks games?
Newington prop (shoulder/collarbone) and lock (ankle/knee) both went off during the Shore game. With the 5 starters that were already out injured its a test of their depth. Had to call up some Year 10s last week - which then hurt the 16s and 15s.

No idea how many of the 7 who either missed or got injured last week will be available Thursday. I believe that Simmons the no 8 and captain is out for another week or two (rib cartilage) and potentially one of the starting props, Sheck or Viliamu (both have not played this season) may be available.

Welcome back, TRD! Forum’s been quieter than a backline in a blizzard without you ️

Kings v Joeys was prime beef rugby — Fonua was moving like lightning in boots and hitting like a wrecking ball. Unreal. And Ghattas with the self-flick? That was pure rugby theatre — cheeky, confident, and maybe a little jab at Joeys' straight-laced style. Love it.

This Scots v Joeys clash on Thursday? Got all the ingredients for a forward-pack fiesta. McKenzie v Joeys’ hungry pigs — I’m drooling already.

Bring on the bash, the biff, and the brilliance!

Scrum on!

Rog out.

Just to add a little more detail on the spaghetti cup this year as someone who played in this prestigious competition a few years ago, there are a few connections allowing me to provide a detailed scouting report. From the games I have watched the "nic ninths" look like a really competitive team with some players that have some serious skill. Scots and Joeys seem to have solid teams with a few standout players from the games that I have watched and have great structure. Shore and Kings seem to be weaker this year and will need a strong few weeks to prove their ability.

Hey all,
I hope everyone's afternoon is going well,
I just wanted to ask if there were anymore early GPS 1XV predictions after the round on the weekend?
Regards,
Bricknissey.

Heard reports Joeys are forcing the whole school to leave school during lunch and head to Scots, while Scots are only cancelling last period and sadly aren't allowed to cancel the 3:00 buses home, this will be a tough one for the Scots supporters...
