NSW AAGPS 2025 (banter and commentary)

After a tough loss to Newington, Shore face a critical moment in their season. While the defeat was disappointing, it's also an opportunity to reflect and reset. Maintaining high morale will be essential in the lead-up to the crucial fixture against Riverview. I believe this group has the resilience and talent to bounce back, after a tough string of losses. That being said, the upcoming match against Riverview becomes an unexpected season defining game, hopefully this match will serve as a turning point in Shores season, allowing them to get the wheels rolling for the remainder of the season.

My predictions as of round 4:

1 - Newington: What can I say. The only undefeated side with 3 current Australian players. An indisputable slaughter of Shore by over 40 points. They Beat Joeys away and should have held a bigger margin. Strangely this year they seem to have much more depth in their 2nds. Should take the chocolates 10 years since Cameron Murray led the Wyvern to glory.

2 - Riverview: Shaky start against New. Grover seems to have finally settled in as a leader. Convincing pummelling of a strong Kings side and a weaker Scot’s side. Could contend for the premiership

3 - Kings: Interesting start with a tight win over Scots. A wins a win. Hammered by View and then weirdly put Joeys to the sword. A team of positive inconsistency. Their game against New this Thursday could be season defining.

4 - Joeys: Unfortunately every empire must fall. Kings grow old and the throne is passed on. Joeys opening win against a Shore who fought back looked promising but after seeing New execute them by nearly 50 points and losing their first and second home game to New and Kings respectively. Perhaps this is the first year in many moons where the Joe boys will not contend for the premiership.

5 - Scots: I mean at least they beat Shore right. As impressive as winning by a point in the last minute is, Shore have hit rock bottom. I have a sinking feeling that considering they have Joeys and Newington lined up back to back it could be there last one for a while. To the credit of the Scotsmen, they have consistently showed up in numbers and fought gallantly against a strong Kings side in round 1. Bowing out with heads held high.

6 - Shore: Ahh the Shore boys. After 25 years of getting brutally hanmered season after season, they pulled off a most unexpected feat and won the title. With the exception of a reasonable fight against similarly weak Scots, there’s not a lot of light at the end of the tunnel for the Church of England. It’s unfortunate they are missing players such as Callaghan. Nevertheless, flogging by Joeys and one of the biggest losses in recent years against New. Perhaps they have fallen back into old habits.

Changes out of Shore. 1s as of now.
Callaghan at 10 is very interesting but smart. I just wonder if he will play as too much of a fullback. As such a standout in the current squad, in fullback he has the freedom to be a lone wolf without the responsibility like in no 10 of organising plays and boys in the backline. He is going to have to be available out of rucks, restricting his ball running abilities. Keen to see how he juggles this, hoping he can fall in easily.

Very interesting to see. You could sense changes were bound to happen due to the large amount of subs the coaching staff made at the end of the game against New. However this is expected after a 40+ defeat. Really interesting to see Green being dropped after playing a solid game on the weekend, same goes with Richie. Great to see Robertson back in the team after a one week Hiatus in the seconds.

The Shore 4ths lost 12-7 to Newington 3rds
Tight game going into half-time with the shore boys up 7-0. Excellent attacking game from shore but credit to Newington to holding them out with some top notch defence. Newington then hit back with a pick and go, try to put it to 7-7. More tight footy going up and down the length of the pitch before Newington go in the corner to make it 12-7. Shore given one last opportunity but a wayward throw in the lineout sees Newington gather the ball and kick it out for full time. Great footy on display from both teams any was really anyone's game will be interesting to see how the next matchup goes at the bridge in round 8.

Special mention to:
Shore's No. 4
Newington's No.10

It seems as if Kings fullbacks tend to get injuried, sure they are looking after the young bloke.

Ben sawyer has played year 10, 11 and currently year12, only full szn without injury was year 10.

ismau Natio played 10,11 and 12. Only full szn was 12

Luke Maroun 10,11 and 12. Only full szn was year 10 in a Covid year.

Kings won two games on the weekend, the firsts and the 14B game
Congratulations Kings 14B's. Not many junior teams this season can say they beat Joeys.
